Problems with lights

Hello all. I am a long time reader with a few good grows but didn't want to register due to what happened when I was active on OG.com. I've taken precautions with anonymizers and decided to join a group again.

Anyways, I have not grown in about 2 years and when I tested my lights I realized that 2 of them are not working. Can anyone offer help with guiding me with a volt meter to test it? 1 is a HPS and the other is a MH. And yes, I have tried new bulbs so I am sure its an electrical issue but I can't just call and electricial over to look at it. Any help is appreciated!

Is it the socket or the ballest?

It is not the socket the problem lies somewhere between the ballast and the light fixture.

My guess is ballast, same thing happened to a friend of mine, the grow shop fixed them right up.

If it is the ballest you should get it repaired at the grow shop, not really something you can fix yourself. It shouldn't cost much at most grow shops.
