Now im no farmer, and i know this stuff is negative 30 degrees celcius and turns into gas when it touches room temperature, but how does one obtain or create anhydrous, meaning "free from moisture or containing no water" ammonia. I know you can find household ammonia, but how would one turn that into anhydrous, ive heard of people turning acetone into anhydrous acetone by baking it in the oven with epsom salts to remove all the moisture, is there some similar process for ammonnia? I mean im not going to go steal Anhydrous ammonia from a farmers tank, its not only dangerous, but just not a good idea at all "rednecks with guns don't like people on their land at night, right?"

I was just coming on here to update my post, and mention dry ice...hahaha.
You beat me to it, I here theres a cold way to keep things from becoming very toxic and explosive using dry ice, clean cold and straight to the point, :cheers2: cheers mate! Dry ice removes moisture, because it is free of moisture, hence "dry" so my next question would be does the ammonia become anhyrdrous that quickly? And what about the shit in the ammonia, does it sink into the ice or im guessing it would vapor off into wherever is convienient. Physics wise that means anywhere it can vent, so better be careful about that. Very cool stuff man, the wonders of dry ice...the only question is how long can the ammonia remain anhyrdous and how in the hell could you store that shit in a container, if you didn't want to use it then and there. "not a chemistry major here" But I think im getting the hang of how things work and react, interact, and that much.

Sorry to be harsh, but forget it. Whatever you are thinking about trying will not end well - unless you want to spend sometime in a jail cell, via the hospital.
You can't dry it. You can't liquify it by cooling or pressurizing the gas without some serious equipment - no margin for technical failures because failure is very bad for your health. You heard that dry ice might work, but you clearly don't even understand basic chemistry. Dry ice is CO2 - an acid. Ammonia is a base. Figure it out. As for "turning acetone into anhydrous acetone by baking it in the oven with epsom salts -" well, I know what you are getting at, but really, think about it - baking acetone?

and why do you want to do this?

he never said he is doing it, he's probably just curious how it would be done

I'm from missouri and as far as I know, there's only one reason someone would want anhydrous... to cook dope in their kitchen.
you cant take your household ammonia and turn it into anhydrous in your kitchen.
but if you're smart, there are more places to get it than you would think. forget about farmer joe shootin you with his shotgun though... be worried about the POLICE. they will review the security camera footage and show up to your trailer while you are picking through your carpet.
by the way... meth is a dirty fucking drug don't do it, ever. but there are easier ways to make it and you dont need anhydrous.
google it
