you can actually download a fan made version of the game (it is actually better than the retail) called the source code project, as volition (studio that made fs2) released the code when they were bought by another company

any fs2 fans here? anyone trying it out? just search for freespace 2 scp

freespace 2 was an amazing game at the time. Nothing has ever come close to the experience of making a bombing run against some capital ship, dodging the massive beams that will fuck you up in half a second, sticking all your sheilds at the front and hoping nothing comes up behind you.
