Yeah, I'm really enjoying my life by NYC, aside from the fact that everything is expensive there, I absolutely love this city. And you know what? Recently I took this personality test called: "what city are you?" (or something like that) and I am New York! How perfect.
I'm happy here :) Are you happy where you live? What are your thoughts on New York (even if you've never been there)?
I'm happy you're enjoying your time here so far Penny - that's great. I love NYC as a place to visit - a few times a year is great for me. I would love to spend a week there sometime. My brother used to live 15 miles north of the city, so we'd go down there all the time together. A bit big for my living tastes though - I like medium sized towns 50 to 100 thousand people - however, not suburban towns - they need to have an identity of their own.

I love NYC, I feel like I am supercharged when i am there. I have lots of friends that live in Brooklyn, and then a rich cousin who lives in Tribeca. My favorite areas are Soho, the village..lower east side i guess.
Its a lot of fun to go out at night there....I generally end up seeing the dawn I've noticed.
I would like to live there, but my financial situation isn't great right now.
Check out my friend John's band called "Enon." I think you would really like them, they live in Brooklyn.

"Are you happy where you live?"
i'm not sure. there are many really lovely places, but i dislike the people too much. i'm always very sad when my friends from college drive home on thursday evenings - they are all from other cities.
"What are your thoughts on New York (even if you've never been there)?"
i guess my thoughts are the same i had about london before i went there. i don't really have an opinion, i'll wait until i've been there. maybe i'll have the chance next summer, i am planning to take part in this summer school project at college. they send those people who study english and are unsure about how america is like to some college for, like 4 or 5 weeks and that includes one visit in nyc, as someone told me. and i really want to go. :D

Penny, I'm glad you're enjoying life in NYC :) My hometown in NJ is about 85 minutes from NYC by bus, but I went there relatively few times. Which is a shame, and I do plan on going to New York more often when I get back to the States.
Currently, I live in Yokohama, Japan's second-biggest city. Actually, it looks much more beautiful than Tokyo (but Tokyo has the glitz, glamor, and excitement). I like Yokohama, but the place doesn't feel like home. But the city's downtown is quite lovely :)

Hi Penny!
Good thread- and great pictures of u and life also...
My feelings on NY/NJ are warm. I have friends there- I work there 5/6 months out of the year and have experienced much. As far as NY -it is energetic and magnetic to me. Everytime I go across the bridge or thru Holland Tunnel- I feel oppertunity,& energy...(Am I saying the word energy enough yet?:))Besides the traffic and pollution it is a place of beauty. I love the food-U can not get pizza anywhere else in the U.S. anywhere like NYC pizza. Another thing I really love is Jim Kerr in the morning- on 104.5 fm-another good station is rock 105.
I know NY has helped make my career what it is and I am eternally greatful to the City for being what it is...
The Greatest City in the World!!!-'sides that even though I am not all that much into sports...I am a Yankees Supporter!

Hi Penny,
I hear you are living it up in New York! What a great location to be at as far as college is concerned. You're soooo lucky! I love NYC!! I was there in September 2002 as part of my travel itinery. My friend and I were there for 3 days. We stayed on 45th street so we were right in the middle of Times Square. There was such an amazing vibe not just there but in the whole of the city. I just had this euphoria that I've never experienced before!
I loved all the different neighbourhoods. We went all around Times Square, including going up the Empire State Building. Whilst looking out on the viewing deck I got the fright of my life though. This plane came out of nowhere and you can imagine what my initial thought what. Don't worry though it's part of the flight path. Just thought I'd warn you just in case you haven't been up there yet and are planning on going. I wouldn't want you or anyone else to almost freak out like I did.
Other places we visited were Soho, Greenwich Village, East Village, Chelsea, amost of which were taken in on the Tour Bus we went on. We also went down to Battery Park where we caught a boat around the harbour to Staten Island and Brooklyn Bridge. Our last day was spent in Central Park and that was lovely. It couldn't have been a more beautiful day that day!
I would love to go back to NYC to do some Christmas shopping. Unfortunately I don't have the funds right now but one day!
Glad to hear you've settled in well at college and I loved reading your website by the way! It was very interesting not to mention the colourful design to it!
