Green spikes on the stem?

What do those green spikes on the stem represent? after 4 of these show up i can start topping my plant right? after I do this and they start growin again, when will I be able to tell the sex?

I don't think there spikes but i think i know what you mean.
anyway by topping your plant do you mean clones? what i do to tell the sex is
take some cuttings, then down the days? and in about 7 days the males will sow
then get the days back up on the females, the Mr plants will sow up befor the
females do.

so you basicly pluck a leaf and if it grows back fast its male?

Say you have 4 plants 18ha days and would like to make some clones
for the next grow, say 4 plants, what you do is take 2 or 3 cuttings
from ea plant,(remember which cutting from which plant?) so now we got 12 cuttings,..setup a cutting-clone room
8ha days or 12ha but 8ha will flower befor 12,.. So now we wait say 7days or so
to see if any male flowers sow up? if theres no male flowers in 2weeks then there
is no males in your 18ha veg room..so you know you have 4 females in the veg room
but if you do get males lets say from plant 1 where you got the 3 cuttings from
then you know that-that plant is a male and can remove it, and at the same time
you remove the 3clones and keep the 4 best now female clones for the next grow?
once you work out which is male and remove em you get the days back up to 18ha
days>goto veg in the clone room,..once you harvest the plants that you removed
the clones from, you got 4 nice size clones which you know are female for the next
time.

first question is are you growing in or out doors..this section is for our door so I assume that you are growing out. There truely is no need to top a plant unless you are dealing with height restrictions. If you are growing outdoors, your plants wont show sex untill either the plant is sexually mature or the days have dropped down too under 14 hours of light. In most parts of the US that's usually early to mid August. Hope this helps
