You might try weaning instead of cold turkey...that's so hard to do physicaly.

That's how I always smoked. I never wanted to get addicted so I'd only smoke in the summer time and then when fall came I'd cut back to five or so a day and then when it got to cold to go out I'd just quit till spring time.

Now my sister and I only smoke on Thursdays :)

john did too. he took wellbutrin. but it affected him adversely so i dont recommend it. my folks are about your age and they both just quit. its been about 8 months. they are doing great. how much do you smoke a day?

dont be surprised if you get tired. my father is one of those up at 4 am types and when he quit all he wanted to do was sleep. hed wake up at 2 in the afternoon, eat and go back to sleep.
i am w/ you on the addiction thing kim/ i am thankful i have none and i will do everything to make sure that i stay that way.

and nirgal.......heres a huge wave of good vibes for you buddy. you might wanna hold on to a tree cause i gotta lotta energy to send this moment(just had some coffee)

Thanks, that helped... I was talking to a woman today about a water thing in her back yard and I couldn't concentrate at all, or think of the names of plants that I know all about or words.... :P Fortunately I've done work for her before :)

I told her what was up..... she said ohhh that's it!

Then later, I got back to the nursery and was poking around in one of the sheds looking for something (and hoping to remember what it was) and a car pulls up (he must have opened the gate, because it's closed during the week) and some guy says slowly "is everybody OK?", so I'm standing there with my open pocket knife in one hand and a big putty knife in the other all disheveled and distracted...... I was this close to saying "yes, They are sleeping now, I had to stop the voices, would you like to see...?
but I didn't

I've been cutting back, but if I have them I smoke them, I've tried before.... like the week before Sept. 11....that didn't stick :)

The physical addiction seems to ease after three days, it the habit of smoking is the hard part..... so I have no cash, no rolling papers, half a can of icky tobacco and a pipe that I hate.... Had a couple of hits, but it's better. M quit cold turkey 8 years ago, and she was a 3 pack a day smoker!!! I only do a half a pack a day, but it's been a long habit.....
Tomorrow will be better :)

Lol, that was a funny~yet disturbing scenario

When my sister quit she said it was Orbit gum that helped her :) it comes in a pack that opens alot like a pack of smokes and it's really refreshing gum...mebbe you could replace one habit with another??

Oh, c'mon now, nirgal. Quitting cigarettes is EASY! I've done it many times.:o

The event that aided me was this: I was a firefighter and almost all of us smoked. One day the local emergency crew comes in the station to give out BP screens. They come to me, pump up the right arm, frown, pump it up again, frown again, pump it up a third time, FROWN AGAIN!, switch arms, pump it up, FROWN AGAIN!!! , change guys, pump up the left arm again, FROWN AGAIN!!!!. I say "OK, guys, what's up?" They say "180 over 115!!! Would you like us to take you in now, or wait until the stroke?" Talk about reality check! I was smoking so much that my taste buds were shot, so I used salt on everything. I took the pack out of my pocket asked if anybody wanted them, gave them to the guy, and swore off salt. A month later, the crew came back, pumped up my arm and said "125 over 80."

And that was the last time I smoked a cigarette. Motivation, find some.

And good luck.:)

tea tree oil chewing sticks...like toothpicks. you get them in healthfood stores. forgot the type of wood but it doesn't splinter so you can chew them and suck on them and pick your teeth:)

supposed to be good for quiting smoking

(i wouldn't know because i dont smoke of course:))

good luck!
