I've checked the FAQ at Overgrow.com, but my question wasn't answered. How deep should I plant my seeds? 1 inch? 2??? Help?! (Newbie at growing here. Duh.)
I'll check back soon. I plant in the morning IF my seeds have germinated by then.

Plant them JUST below the surface. 1 inch is way too deep.
After the taproot starts downward, the whole seed gets lifted out of the soil by the seedling. The more soil it needs to burrow through, the more work the seedling needs to do before it hits the light and air it needs to grow.

Place germinated seed with tap root down to where it is covered with 1/2" of loose soil, keep moist but not saturated and should break the surface in 1-4 days sometimes more.peace

So, a quarter inch at most Ellis? I know it will need the warmth of whatever light it can get...
A half inch seems like a lot. But I could be wrong. I'll plant TWO. One, at 1/4 inch, and the other at 1/2. See which grows best.
Thanks you guys!
(I tend to LISTEN to Ellis.)

Have had 100% ratios from germinated seeds for over a decade. You cannot go wrong,I would not recommend germinating in soil as ratios go down.

I used the Score the shell,Damp paper towel method I found on Overgrow.com.
I guess the next couple of days will tell the tale! Today is 2 days since planting, no sprouts as yet. (I planted three at different depths.)
I guess THIS thread should probably have been in the Growing forum...
Can someone move it there?
