Subject: Gathering must move to accommodate Boy Scouts

The Forest Service has asked the Gathering to move and offered trucks to
help cover the price of doing so. This is how much they care about the Boy
Scouts and how committed they are to their pledge to work with the Gathering
without a Permit.

The site available is at Snyder Basin. Specific directions to Snyder Basin
are needed immediately and people who can rendezvous there are needed ASAP. The
folks at the current site are in meetings with the FS and in counsels. They are
being asked to move – they are not being forced, arrested or otherwise
harassed according to the most recent reports. They are being asked because
there is respect for them and their ability to make a conscious decision, in
council, that is not based on beating the chest and yelling, God gave me the
right to stomp on a 16 year old kid’s formative experience in the forest as a
human being and a Boy Scout. To make a conscious decision that acknowledges
that there is a place to go with a special spirit and an open space for
communion and Prayer. So, now the transformation of the Rainbow Gathering
begins, from a personalized group of individuals to a Global Gathering concept
that seeks peace in Israel,
accommodation in Russia and racial unity in Australia. All of these goals are
achieved by the flexibility to act with compassion and understanding, not by
force, not by brow beating, not by holding the feather and filibustering the
council.

Snyder Basin directions need to be fleshed out, but a rendezvous can be
made in Big Piney on US Route 189. Stay tuned for more concise directions to
the old site from 1994 – or just head to that site as some have described it
as a gentle and beautiful walk in.

There are clear reasons to act now, the Forest Service has spoken with an
act or offering of kindness and not a gun or pair of handcuffs, this
opportunity to show that peace is the point is now at hand.
