But not be gay?

in my opinion, anything is possible.
For me, being "fully gay" if such a thing is possible is wanting to have a relationship with someone of the same sex and not just sex... but thats just my opinion.
there is no gospel when it comes to this sort of thing.

you can have sexual feelings for the same sex and not be gay is totally possible. really all it means is either your subconcious or concious is curious and wants to experiment. so its perfectly normal for these feelings to be felt. and hopefully you will either play out these feelings or just have to deal with them for who knows how long

The way I usually explain sexuality to people is like so: I believe that if you have a emotional attraction in addition to a sexual attraction to your own sex, you are either bisexual or gay. Since you only have a sexual attraction, I have no earthly idea! Don't try to label it...just feel it out and make your own decision, honey.

It sounds kind of like supressing but everyone is different, I suppose..
What is your definition of gay? Is there reason you feel that even though you are turned on by same sex relationships but yet think you aren't gay or bi?

I don't like labels myself... so why even bother trying to label yourself... just be YOU, and if you feel like fooling around with guys - go for it.
However, saying that... I believe that being "Gay" is about your emotional attachment to people, and not so much who you're *sexually* attracted to, but who you're *emotionally* attracted to.
But like I say, don't worry about labels, they are for loosers... just be YOU!!

with two of my male friends, I love them with all my being, kinda like two very close brothers .. but I'm NOT attracked to them in a sexual way. they are both straight and I'm gay.
So I guess the opposite could be true also, you could like guys in a sexual way without being gay.

I think what you mean is that you can feel LOVE for someone of the same sex as you (father, grandfater, friends, etc..), but not in a sexul way.

He didn't contradict himself. He said that HE loves two other guys...like brothers, not sexually.
And he's saying that the other guy could probably like guys sexually, and not emotionally - as one would a lover. Like we're all saying.

Is not a sexual attraction more than an appreciation for the person? You can appreciate beauty as well.

I agree. I really like Katy Holmes and think she is very pretty, but thats it, she doesn't do anything for me ... now Orlando Bloom thats a different matter. :-)

I just wrote a paper on "African American Men on the Down Low," which is men of color sleeping with other men of color, but leading an otherwise heterosexual lifestyle. The mantra of this phenomena seems to be, "it's about gratification, not orientation." Anything is possible, and I do not really care about labels, so I respect the individuals choice to identify as a straight man that sleeps with other straight men. In my opinion, however, this is very, very gay. It seems to me to just be semantics.

Sure, lots of women like males in a sexual way and are not gay.
However, if you're a man and you like males in a sexual way, you are gay by definition...unless you also like females in a sexual way. Then you're bisexual.
If you are a man and you like males in a way that is not sexual, you are not gay.

If you're attracted sexually to guys and girls, you could be bisexual. If it's only one guy, it could just be an infatuation, or a bit of curiosity. In the case of the former, I have no idea how you do deal with it, and the latter is always worth exploring, if only to get it out of your system.
I know a few guys who don't consider themselves gay because they only take the "male" role in sex with guys (i.e., receiving rather than giving blowjobs, penetrating not being penetrated), and I can see where they're coming from, as you don't have to be homosexual to enjoy a blowjob from a guy.
Mainly, you don't have to brand yourself gay forever just because you fancy guys. You're still a person and it won't have any disasterous effect on your personality. You won't be forced to start dressing well or smelling nice or whining nasally and liking musical theatre. So do what you like.

I dunno if this is true. I kind of said it in my last post, but a lot of guys who are essentially straight just prefer guys' attitude towards sex. This straight guy I know goes to gay clubs because he knows he can his end away there. I can understand this totally; guys just understand how important sex is to other guys way better than women do.

It's official: Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt are all attractive enough that if you fancy them it doesn't make you gay or straight, it just means you're alive and post-pubescent.

I realise that with me being bi-curious, I'm not helping much with the whole "able to view guys as sexy and no be gay" thing.. but the thing is that I DON'T think guys are sexy... they are the only ones...

I've actually never really cared much for Johnny Depp, but Brad Pitt is probably the most attractive object in the universe. He's at least 40, doesn't wash and has a big beard, and you'd still drop to yr knees for him.
Gore Vidal said there's no such thing as homosexuality, only homosexual acts. Make of that what y'all will.
For example, I consider myself completely gay, but right now I'd fuck anything with a hole.

<<However, saying that... I believe that being "Gay" is about your emotional attachment to people, and not so much who you're *sexually* attracted to, but who you're *emotionally* attracted to.>>
I so agree with you The World of Dan! This thread reminds me of a really great episode of Northern Exposure I saw years ago. Ruth Anne (the proprietor of the local store/post office) is talking with Maurice (ex-astronaut and general pompous but lovable ass) about fetishes. It came out in this episode that Maurice (who is a raging homophobe) has a massive shoe fetish. He was asking Ruth Anne if that made him some kind of a social deviant, and her reply was awesome. She said that sex is the jungle, it doesn't adhere to rules, it's primal, and whatever goes, goes. I think that's very true. If it feels good, and doesn't hurt anyone, why not?
<<Is not a sexual attraction more than an appreciation for the person? You can appreciate beauty as well.>>
I also whole heartedly agree with deez nutz. I am a straight woman, but, I can appreciate the beauty of other women.
<<.. but the thing is that I DON'T think guys are sexy... they are the only ones...>>
In regards to women, I feel that way too. I generally don't find myself thinking like that either. However...Jeri Ryan (aka the infamous Seven of Nine on Star Trek Voyager) produced a reaction in me that I have not experienced before or since for another woman.
Does this mean I think I'm bi? No. When it comes to sex, nothing gets to me like men. It doesn't mean you can't appreciate the same sex though. My emotional attachments are generally stongest with men. It may sound funny coming from a woman, but I just understand women! Too many head games! Men seem (to me anyways) a lot more straightforward.

I've not thought seriously about being straight for years, but there are women I would fuck:
Helena Bonham Carter
Kate Garside (from Queen Adrena. very nice, very scary woman)
Marilyn Monroe (I know it's a trendy choice, but look at that ass!)
This does not make me straight or even bi. They are desirable women, desirable enough for even me to give them the time of day. I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

He was married at age 20 to makeup artist, Lori Allison. His career as a musician failed to skyrocket and he resorted to selling pens over the phone to make ends meet. A divorce soon followed. But during those years Johnny got a lucky break, Lori had introduced him to actor Nicolas Cage. Although at first they did not like each other, they became good friends. Nicolas convinced him to try acting and he signed on with Cage's agent. Nightmare on Elm Street was the beginning of his lustrious career....

I hadn't thought about this earlier but Mick Jagger had m2m trysts but didn't persue same sex much on a regular basis that that I have heard of.
I decided to look to see what I could find & I came up with this.....
Interview magazine did an interview with Mick when promoting his first solo album. And in that interview Jagger admits to having had a number of gay dalliances. None of them serious, he points out. And he laughed about it. No big deal.
