What would it mean

I was walking home from town today and I found a notebook which had this written in it. I don't know who wrote it but I liked it.

I could force out a smile
but what would it mean ?
It wouldn't hide any problems
It might raise questions
It could be the first positive expression
that the world would see

I think I'll wait a little longer
for a reason to appear

I'm not sure if it's meant to end there or not but that's all that was in the notebook apart from some doodle.

I'm surprised someone lost their work. I'd break down if that happened to me. Have you thought about trying to find the owner? Post a note or something?
