This is the land of Lincoln where people believe in God...
-Ass Monique Davis

"The Bible is not my book, and Christianity is not my religion. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma."
-- Abraham Lincoln

Representative Monique D. Davis (D) 27th District
Springfield Office: 241-E Stratton Office Building
Springfield, IL 62706 (217) 782-0010 (217) 782-1795 FAX
District Office: 1234 West 95th Street Chicago, IL 60643
(773) 445-9700 (773) 445-5755 FAX Cook County
Years served: 1987 - Pending

"I don't know what you have against God, but some of us don't have much against him. We look forward to him and his blessings... I'm trying to understand the philosophy that you want to spread in the state of Illinois... This is the land of Lincoln where people believe in God... What you have to sprew and spread is extremely dangerous... It's dangerous for our children to even know that your philosophy exists... Get out of that seat! You have no right to be here! We believe in something. You believe in destroying! You believe in destroying what this state was built upon."
-Ass Monique Davis

"Obviously, Assemblywoman Davis owes the witness and everybody in this country who believes in freedom of religion an apology. And if she can't figure that out, she should resign and take her prejudice with her. She also needs to improve her own education. That phrase, 'this is the Land of Lincoln, where people believe in God'; Miss Davis said that in Springfield, where, when Lincoln first ran for Congress in 1846, the future great president was accused by his opponent of being an atheist. You not only spat on the fundamental American freedom to embrace religion, a religion or no religion, Assemblywoman Davis, but you also made a damn fool of yourself in the process. State Representative Monique Davis, Democrat of Illinois, today's Worst Person in the World."
-Keith Olbermann

We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow those who pervert the Constitution.
-Abraham Lincoln

Davis' anti-atheist tirade goes national (http://blogs.chicagotribune.com/news_columnists_ezorn/2008/04/davis-anti-athe.html)

On April 8, 2008, the Council for Secular Humanism said it was "appalled by Davis’s apparent belief that atheists and other nonreligious individuals are not entitled to the same rights and liberties as other citizens." Director of the Council's First Amendment Task Force, Ronald A. Lindsay said "She is unfit to serve in her office, just as a representative who told a Jew or a Hindu to ‘get out of that seat’ would be unfit to serve. If she does not resign, the Illinois House has an obligation to expel her."

"When I said during my presidential bid that I would only bring Christians and Jews into the government, I hit a firestorm. `What do you mean?' the media challenged me. `You're not going to bring atheists into the government? How dare you maintain that those who believe in the Judeo-Christian values are better qualified to govern America than Hindus and Muslims?' My simple answer is, `Yes, they are.'"

On Thursday, April 10, Sherman reported on his website, and Olbermann reported on Countdown, that Assemblywoman Davis called him personally to apologize for her remarks, and that he accepted her apology. She stated that she was angry because of the shooting deaths of two students earlier that day.

Examining the facts behind the conspiracy

"Neither the trappings of robes, nor temples of stone, nor a fixed liturgy, nor an extensive literature or history is required to meet the test of beliefs cognizable under the Constitution as religious. So far as our law is concerned, one person's religious beliefs held for one day are presumptively entitled to the same protection as the beliefs of millions which have been shared for thousands of years."

Hawaii Supreme Court Rules Against Religious Marijuana Use (http://tinyurl.com/4mbpke)

The court decided that Joseph Sunderland’s freedom of religion didn’t give him the right to smoke marijuana, but it didn’t rule on whether Hawaii’s strong privacy protections would have shielded him.

Prohibition vs. Christianity (http://www.oldmagazinearticles.com/pdf/Pro%20vs%20Christianity.pdf)
(The North American Review, 1918)

Seeing that much of the momentum to prohibit the national sale, distribution and consumption of wine and spirits originated with a hardy chunk of the observant Christian community, the Reverend John Cole McKim decided to weigh in on the topic. McKim tended to believe that:

"Christ, being divine and consequently infallible, could not have erred. Since it is well known that Christ used wine Himself and gave it to others..."

He further opined: "But to vote what one regards as a natural right shall be declared forever illegal, is cowardly, un-American, and un-Christian."

I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever, in religion, in philosophy, in politics or in anything else, where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent. If I could not go to Heaven but with a party, I would not go there at all.

It is truly sad that almost all the big drugs which are illegal are thus because of racial discrimination, weed with mexicans, cocaine with blacks, peyote with indians, hell even booze with the irish(thats a joke). And i truly do believe with all my heart, that god has absolutely no problem with weed. Want proof. God only banned one tree in the garden and that tree beared the fruit of knowledge. I see no pear on that stalk, only buds. Religion gets mixed in with political issues like this because people believe that to get rid of the real "abuse", you have to make the whole substance illegal. I know people who I truly think don't respect the plant. They're mindset is all about themselves and theyre only thought is to find the next way to get fucked up(no offense intended). The problem is that you can't just make something illegal and make it disapear. The government needs to realize that normal people like you and me enjoy the herb, and we don't go out stealing, raping, and breaking the law(except the weed one that is). People are much less ignorant than they were in the 30's. Every adult I know would support a recreational weed bill if it were proposed. And I'm talking about responsible parents here. I like marijuana, it relaxes me. I'm a devout christian, and i know theres room in my life for both

Peace and God bless.

Tree of Life (http://www.cannabisculture.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=wwwdrugwar&Number=1165859)

Gen.2 [9] And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Gen.3 [22] And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Marijuana May Live Up To Be The Elixir of Life By Ravi Chopra

A study by University of Saskatchewan researchers suggests beneficial aspects of smoking marijuana at least among rats, who appear to have sprouted new brain cells and besides benefiting from reduced depression and anxiety.

The study's results appearing in the 'Journal of Clinical Investigation' have actually given a fillip to the traditional and mythological view that associates the addictive weed in some ways with immortality.

The Ganja plant has been aiding the oppressed for thousands of years. Giving them the insight to question the authority of the day. Including the human invention of religion. Morphing into governments. Until the people find their courage to speak out against injustice. The profiteers will maintain the dysfunctional Ganjawar. Doing this by dividing and instead of the usual conquering. They perpetuate. No one profits winning or losing. Only keeping the war against some users going. I have to wonder about the Woman's Christian Temperance Union lying about Hemp and Medicinal Ganja. What religion sanctions lies? The religion of money. I believe the true followers of the message of Jesus are opposite of Christians. I believe Jesus will return as the antichrist and toss their greedy asses and their silver and gold crucifixes into the burning lake. Religionists only have lies to demonize their opposition. Stigmatizing their own children and caging their own citizens. Especially the sick. No one needs a Masters degree or Theological title to know caging sick people is wrong. Taking food-stamps from the hungry is wrong. Taking college tuition assistance only hurts the poor. It is clear why this war is waged. Greed and segregation. Nothing much to do with the dangers of Ganja.
