When you cut down your plant for harvest, obviously you're left with a stub. What does this stub do? Grow again? Or must we use cloning techniques to start again?

The stub is worthless. You can leave some foilage on and attempt to regenerate it. Basically, give it a dose of higher N fertilizer and 18-24 hours of light. Wait 3-4 weeks and new growth should start.

Clones should be taken no later than 4 weeks into flowering but you can try.

Dont know if this is true or even if it would work but my mate talks about how ya can graft cutting (like ya do with trees or roses) onto a stem or stub as u put it.

A stem yes but I am not sure about a stub. Only reason is the water transport system is severed for the whole plant.

I've heard of grafting like this but haven't tried it!>)

I thought it was trees n soft wood plants, not should wat cannabis would be classed as but can get rather woody the old stems. Prob requires special cutting only known by wrinkly old grey haired gardeners.

Hey Nat! If I remember right Marijuana Botany By R. Clarke covered some grafting information. The hops plant is similar and there used to be some attempts to graft it to mj for a stealth plant.

Yep bb that sounds correct. Me mate who said about grafting mention hops thinking about it n how the old monks used graft marijuana onto it.

Weird! Hops flavored mj, or mj flavored hops?

As I remember, one said to cut main stem to about 2-3" poke a hole in the middle of the stem and dip cutting in a rooting gel like Earth juice's Rootstock. insert the clone into the hole and put more gel on the stem to seal the bare stem and veg. I happen to have a couple of stems I might try this with, as if I didn't have a prob keeping up with the journals already started!>P

Wat ever it taste like i'd drink t it if it works but I have a funny feeling naturalhi grafting could well work just nicely. Think ya seal the stem with honey dont ask me why just rings a bell. I love it guys how a simple question answer thread can lead t all sorts of other ideas.
