anyone play any musical instruments? what are your thoughts about playing while high?
i´ve been getting back into the groove lately of playing more often. i´ve been playing guitar for almost 12 years, but kinda plateau'ed for a while and wasnt playing too much.
I just got a banjo a few weeks ago and that really kick-started my playing. for both guitar and banjo. here she is:

so that´s all I´ve been doing lately is playing. I think it´s really interesting to play while sober, then get high as you go, and see how it´s different. i also love to switch back and forth between the banjo and guitar. those first 10-15 seconds are really strange
i find that when you´re high, chords and notes have more depth to them. you can really get inside the music and feel it better. i usually wind up grooving on a really simple rhythm or melody and get stuck in it.
i also used to play sousaphone (tuba) in marching band (7 years) and getting high really helped with that. you have to do so much at once, it helps to be high so you can just DO it. first off, you´ve got this 40lb chunk of brass resting on your shoulder. then you have to have all your music memorized, all your drill charts (the marching formations) memorized, you have to face certain directions at times, and then there´s the horn-flashes (doing quick movements with your instrument that look cool) and dancing. and the whole time, you have to control your breathing so you can play while running around a football field.
i found that it was helpful to learn it all sober, but to also do everything high. at first it was a little hard to do it as well as I could sober, but became easier as i approached it in different ways. by performance time, i wouldnt even think about having to do all that shit at once. i just DID it.
so ANYWAYS, what instrument(s) do you play and what are your thoughts on playing high?
