organic ph - do i need to?

Do you need to ph your organic solution.... ive heard multilpel variations to this...

---"it self adjusts itself, it needs to be adjusated,mix a day ahead of schedule, use bubblers to help microbe action which self adjusts then etc etc" ---

I grow in pro mix bx with admended perlite...


Id like to keep it 100% organic, ya know

many different things can contribute to the pH of the soil. The earth had been naturally occuring organically for thousands of years and it still has different soil pH's all over the world. So i would say that it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on your pH it also depends on what you add to the soil. I could go into more detail on a chemical level but it would just be a waste.

In a word: yes. Nutrient uptake is helped or hindered by pH. Different nutrients require a different pH for uptake with the general range being 5.8 - 7.0 (soil - hydro has a lower top end) outside of this range can cause a less than optimal environment leading to nutrient lockout which leads to other problems. Organics (seems like the new buzzword) is just a different method of feeding the plant. It does not effect how the plant uptakes the nutrients supplied. Osmosis is osmosis.
