This is something new I have had prescribed to me, and I couldn't find out a lot about it because so much of the information I found online was contradictory.
One site said it was almost as good as morphine, while another said it is sort of weak. I did not get the pills yet, and don't like to take things I am uninformed about. Has anyone tried it? The pills are coming from a relative in Europe who is a doctor, and he has prescribed 30mg pills which will be sent from a pharmacy there near his office. He says they are pretty strong and are used for postoperative pain over there, but he has never used them himself. I would like to hear from someone who has actually tried them.
Any info would be much appreciated.
I have taken Darvocet and Vicodin daily for years for chronic pain due to Lyme disease, and they are okay but I feel I need something without all that Tylenol.

In the USA, I think it is only available as Synalgos-DC. Maybe you will have better luck looking it up under that brand name. Good luck.

Hi,

I've bought dihydrocodeine from an overseas pharmacy before. They're not very strong, less strong than vicodin.

Just try a couple at first, then up the dose accordingly.

The ones I got (yours may be different) were time released so I crushed them up first before eating them.

Thank you for your replies.
I got them and did some experimenting...I also have a prescription for Darvocet 100mg mixed with 650mgs of tylenol. It's not enough, but more tylenol would be dangerous even though I do not drink, so I used a couple of the new pills to boost them. They added a bit of strength without adding more tylenol, and I was pretty pleased with the results.
It is certainly no oxycontin, which I had for a while and that totally took away the pain, but it's better than plain Vicodin and as good as Percocet if I take 4 of the dihydrocodeines with two of the darvocets. I usually limit myself to 2, though. I want to make them last. It's been a while since I had a day without pain, so this is fine.
