A friend of mine is feeling pretty low and sick of life at the moment, so I asked her if she might like to come with me to the gathering this year if I end up going. She watched some video's and did some reading, but, like me she had alot of questions. Since she has kids her first question was about bringing them. I told her that there was some kind of kiddy area, but that I didnt know much about it. So I wanted to ask you guys her questions.

Are the kids kept away from "drug" use and nudity, or other age inappropriate things like that when they are in the kiddy area?

And with all of those people, I could easily see a gathering attracting at least a few perves...have there been problems with this in the past, and what if anything is done to keep them away from the kiddy area?

I told her, that from what I understood, the worst that really goes on is some petty theft.. and that though no one really polices... if you are really being a total fucktard that its not unheard of to be asked to leave.. but thats all I really know about it, and I could be wrong??

I had one other question that was totally unrelated to kids, its about my grandma's quilt. My grandma made us kids some quilts when we were little, they arent much to look at - no fancy design or anything, just simple patchwork.. but, my quilt is getting old and its lost a few squares, and some of the stitching is coming undone. Do you think it would be possible to find someone at a gathering that might be able to patch it up for me? - I'v no talent for sewing, or I would do it myself.. but, I know there are some pretty crafty folks out there that could make it look good as new.

well anyway, thanks again for your time guys, I do appreciate it.

Here is a link to welcome home. All the info you need can be found here. Everyone seems to have different highlights and problems at the gatherings, so its hard to answer some of your questions. Treat it like any other event. Keep an eye on your kids. The rowdy's usually stay in A-camp. Nudity is abound but is usually kept away from kiddie kamp. I plan to bring my sewing stuff with me just in case and I'm sure others will too. You may find someone to trade for repairs on your quilts. It would make a nice story and give your quilts more history and memories. I hope this helps... Peace, Tokin.

I suggest doing a search of this forum also, with keywords like "kiddie" to get others' perspectives.

I have 3 kids. My oldest is almost 8 and has been on the road with me since birth. He has been to almost all the gatherings that I have. My little girl has been to many also. I just had a baby this year and I cant wait tobring him out. Of course you have to use commen sense, but basically I feel that my kids are alot more safer and loved when we are at gatherings. And they love it. They have already started asking me how long until its time to go. We hang out at kiddie villege alot, its great there. There are alot of kids for yours to play with. They make healthy meals and have good drinking water. Usually they build a great play place, like swings and slides. I cant imigane not taking my kids.
