Hello,

I am a producer for a nationally syndicated morning TV show and we are putting together a story about Salvia for taping on Monday, March 24th in NYC. We're looking primarily for someone who has used Salvia and is interested in coming on our show to speak about his/her experience. We have seen many youtube videos of people tripping on Salvia, and are very interested in the subject. If you or anyone you know fits this description and/or has a video of themself tripping, I would appreciate your speedy response (as the segment is scheduled for this upcoming Monday). We would, of course, provide transportation and hotel costs for your trip to NY from within the USA.

Thank you so much for your time.
If you would like to speak further, please feel free to contact me at 212-301-5312 or email me at morningshowmatt@hotmail.com

All I ask is to make this a fair and open interview, use someone who is knowledgeable in Salvia Divinorum and don't take information out of context in order to condemn this sacred plant.

This will turn into a "Dangers of Salvia" show no doubt, I say people steer clear of this.

Don't worry travelers your shaman Kalizhada is going to be on the show! I won't let them pull any low blows and I'll bring the straight facts on salvia to the nation-wide audience. Are you guys gonna sit on your ass hoping someone will step up or are you going to join the fight? I will be flying in to New York on Sunday night so I hope some of you will come out and help the cause.

You should indeed not go onto the show. There are few places where salvia is still legal, and let's not let everyone know what it is so that it can be totally outlawed...no matter how the interview goes they're going to warp it into something bad about salvia

Well it seems that support is hard to come by no wonder the conservatives win, they stick together. Unlike the image you posted soaringeagle I am a biology professional with a degree from St. Mary's University and currently a pharma science graduate student. I rank in the top 15% in my class and I am pretty clean cut. So trying to paint me as a drug addicted fool is going to be a bit hard. I have been assured by the producer that this will not be a one sided witch hunt but an open forum of debate. They will have some kids who had made videos on youtube which will hear my scorn and a member of politcal office to debate me which is a real treat since I have done this before in Austin to keep salvia from being banned in Texas( and it worked!). I requested that I be provided a planned script to ensure I am not going to be railroaded and if it does I'll be prepared to stand up for my right to free speech. What gets me is that I'm doing this for the preservance of Salvia for everyone and I'm getting shit on for this! What support indeed.
Ki
P.S. I was given the name Kalizhada by a Shaman in Nigeria because it is my goal to help individuals heal thier spiritual selves and help other achieve enlightenment to break free from the chains of conformity. I have been doing this for years and have been to 9 countires including Africa, Australia, South America, Mexico, Thailand and others to learn of ethnobotanicals and natural healing and spiritual wellness. I was knocking on deaths door in Nigeria 2002 when I was sick with Malaria the local shaman stayed watch over me (18hours)until medics provided the necessary aid before any kidney failure set in. This type of sincere concern helped me realize that a perfect stranger could care for an unknown person and give up personal time and effort to ensure the recovery and health of another stranger. This is what helped shape Kalizhada and is the basis for what I try and do today. Not just with salvia but in every aspect of life.

The show is called "the morning show with mike and juliet" it will be filmed on monday and aired sometime in the week. Goole the show name to find details on where it will be aired. It is nation-wide and willbe watched by millions, I will pull salvia away from the negative light and bring an understanding for it. I will also get to meet family members of the kid who committed suicide and blamed salvia for the incident. So if anybody lives in new york, i'll be there on sunday night and will be at The Muse hotel and would like any local support.

When you go there dont look like an asshole or a bum or a hippie, Show up like some proffessional business man with a suit and tie and then act all serious.

Thats what I would do if I owned a suit.

I plan to go in a very professional manner and articulate the argument well. I will debate as if my life depended on it. I am not your typical shaman, but a new era spiritualist without all the theatrical get up. I plan this to be the first stop into bringing the gospel of salvia to those who are able to understand its value and its potential, so anyone who can offer me some online support helps me build even greater motivation. My name is Frank Ramirez aka Kalizhada, my business is salvia and I will not let this go without a fight.
Ki
Ynef, I will have this put online and have it for you.

TUESDAY: THE NEXT DANGEROUS NEW DRUG

wtf i thought that this was gonna be an open debate and they are portraying it as dangerous from before it is even recorded

Don't worry I'm fully prepared to debate this, the title is nothing more than a viewer catcher, period! Watch and support your salvia shaman Kalizhada for the salvia cause!!!

Good luck, you've got my support. My only suggestion: act like a typical, white, ivy-league doctor. Discussing the cultural and spiritual benefits behind Salvia may help, but nothing will reach white middle class (which I'm assuming will make up most of the audience) more than one of their own. I think that discussing scientifically how it has no adverse affects, how it could have possible medicinal potential, etc. will be your best bet in reaching the general public. Maybe suggesting that it should be slightly regulated (i.e. prohibiting sale to minors, which I'm all for) would present you as a reasonable and community-conscious professional (which I assume you are anyway.)

You probably already knew all that though, just making suggestions. Good luck, hopefully you'll be able to spin the argument our way

Thank all of you for your thoughts, I plan to take all the advise and utilze it effectively. This is the first step, I plan to fight for this nation wide, this is how much I believe in Salvia Divinorum.

In case you forgot the name of this thread it's "TV Show Looking for Salvia users WITH VIDEOS" So, they'll want you to bring videos of you smoking salvia, and then they'll portray you as an idiot in the video once you start tripping. Or they'll show you all the youtube videos, and the few bad stories about salvia, and make YOU explain THOSE peoples actions. All the media needs to make up it's mind is the title of the show, which from the get go you're already losing, and those stupid youtube videos.

But since you've already made your mind I do wish you the best of luck. They would have found someone somehow to be on there show and it might as well be someone who reasonably sounds like he knows what he's talking about.

Kalizhada

They're actually bringing two kids who put videos on youtube who will hear my scorn and will be the ones who I blame for perverting this wonderful plant. I will also debate a member of political office regarding its legality. I have my information in hand and my debate planned out, now its a matter of hoping I won't be edited unfairly. If I'm told the show will be edited I won't even go on, period. I asked for a fair forum and I have been told I would. So let's hope they keep there end of the bargain.

Sorry for the double post but think about it. The whole point of the show is to talk about salvia and let people know about it, and that it's bad. They aren't going to let you pwn them and turn it around. It won't work like that.

You should have known you would be asked to defend the video of some guy spaced out and grabbing at hallucinations. It wasn't exactly fair. They were not in the least bit concerned with states of reality and what might be learned from them.

Personally, I hate that shit. But, the right to love or hate it all I want should be mine. Illegality seems so bizarre, like outlawing dirt.

man, what a load of bullshit.the hosts and "doctors" on that show are complete asses. i think anyone who hasnt had some sort of enlightenment from a drug and can see the benefits from them if used responsibly shouldnt even be allowed to have an opinion on the subject. they are obviously closed minded and blinded by their own ignorance to even see someone elses side on this. now people who have used psychedelics, had a fair amount of experience with them and have seen others having experiences with them, can then see both sides of the good and bad of mind altering drugs, weither they are for or against them. but someone who has only seen the bad is going to have a biased opinion. this whole thing was just a metaphorical slaughter of salvia and users of it, responsible or not.

moomooman
03-30-2008, 04:35 AM
i didnt like how that one doctor was saying it connects to the same opiod receptors in the brain as heroin, cause it doesnt. the standard opiates/opioids that people use connect with mu-opioid receptors. salvia connects with kappa-opiod receptors. there is a difference between them, and they should have stated that. they totally just wanted to rip all over salvia, that aint right. i pray to the salvia god that they dont make her illegal. she's one of my favorite entities.

True. Check the Salvia sub-forum. I have stickied the thread.

And for the record I think Frank did a good job on the show. Considering the situation he was in, he did as well as anyone could have hoped for.

My heart goes out to his family.

Aldousage

Frank did an excellent job. So did the college student beside him. Even the third guy was more coherent and intelligent than the producer/hosts had been hoping he'd be. Despite the blatantly-slanted, biased angle of this horrible, horrible program, I think many moderate viewers would consider the presented arguments for responsible, legal salvia divinorum use very valid and intelligent.

I particularly enjoyed the part where the pinhead co-host asked what medical knowledge he has and Frank calmly answered that he's a graduate student of pharmacology. It could only have been improved by Frank adding, "and yourself?"

The nerd who kept bleating about opioid receptors like it was some sort of golden key to his inane argument was very irritating. I half-expected him to suddenly look into the camera and say "and opioid is a derivative of the word opiate which is itself based on the word opium - and heroin is made from the opium poppy. So salvia is basically heroin! Your children are using HEROIN!!!" and then his head would explode.

Well, "half-expected" isn't the right way to put it. "Fantasized" is a better fit.

The young guy answers the question about whether it's a good idea to have a sitter because it's fun with "Yeah, - " and there's an obvious edit. I think this is because he says something along the lines of "but also because it's safer". The reason I think this is because it's obvious there's a cut and a minute later, the host says "you all say you need a buddy with you while your on salvia" in reference to something we haven't heard. They cut this because they did NOT want that guy (ESPECIALLY that guy) sounding responsible.

Peacelove,
Aldousage

I thought frank and the collage student did well, as well as they could in the situation.

When you go on those shows you are set up the have a planned part for you to play and they control it so you fit that part. They have people in the audience that get everyone to clap when the time is right and cut people off when they are making points against the set program.

The show wanted it to seen like Salvias bad and your kids will get it and use it.
Just another narrow-minded brainwashing show.

The guy that owned the rehab was so annoying...! I can’t believe they got people to clap for him.

Reminds me why I don’t watch T.V.

I can't even explain how mad that show made me.

Every single time any Salvia defender would come up with a clear point, they were cut off. About 95% of the things the hosts and offenders said were unable to be argued with because if they were, they would just move on to the next point.

That was so one sided.

I could go on forever, but there's no need to, I know everyone here feels the same way I do about this show. Ridiculous.

I haven't done salvia but this show is just pathetic. The topic they are attacking on a show like that will NEVER win. No matter how smart the person speaking for it is. Do you honestly think intelligent people watch these sort of shows? Only the simple minded do.
