i recommend reading "electric kool-aid acid test" by tom wolfe. it's got some of that in it, i think you'd enjoy if you haven't already read it.

Did that already. But I wanna hear it from a visitors point6 of view. Something like this.

I arrived sober till I drank a little carton cup of punch. The crowd changed in a wild bunch of primitive and psychedelic aliens. The music penetrated deep into the primal brains were the unconscious and forgotten areas lay which were essential for the survival of mankind in ancient times. Doors were being opened and the brain began downloading from gods internet. Downloading feelings of togheterness, Love, and feelings not comprehendable for the ordinary workdrone. Like a mass the wild bunch moved in the rhytms of sound and reacting to each other. Touching and loving eachother in ecstacy. Reacting to the auras and warmness of eachother bodies. Stimulating the chakras and the ki's too a higher level.
Feeling it in the toes and the stomach and in the head, an orgasmic explosion of pleasure. There aint no boundaries anymore and the road has just begun to the ultimate pleasure of knowlegde and enlightment. Reaching a point beyond the physical. A place where it doesn't mather if you are dead or alive. No ego just being part of the entire universe. Being the universe stretched out from point A to B which are the same points connected to all other universes and all other beings. intwined with them forming the ultimate consciousness. The all knowing everything. Spacing between the clouds of gas between the stars and the deepoceans of a distant water planet inhabitat with many forms of jellyfish that are able to give spectactuler lightshows. Breathing in and out changing colours with every breath. A band being absorbed by beautiful colours and figures that blows your head to a state of trance with a oscilloscope driving you in a mad frenzy. Moving by music notes which are strings that control your every move. The puppet player has no remorse and relentlessly drives his puppets till they are soaking wet in pleasure sweat.
When the party is over it is like they all know. Love is the way.

dude that was awesome. are you sure you weren't there? i'd like to hear from someone that was actually there too. another book that talks some about back in those days is demon box by ken kesey. most of it is about kesey after he got out of jail but it is still a really good book. and on key-z.com they have tapes of the bus trip and acid tests and various other prankster events for sale.

"anyone who was at any or all of the acid tests knows that tom wolfes book is full of shit"

-my dad (who was present at several acid tests)

Tom Wolfe wasn't even at any of the tests he just did some research and wrote what he thought it was all about. if you want good shit find someone who was actually there, not just writing what they think went down.

I recommend this book

Dennis McNally-A long strange trip(the inside history of the grateful dead)

It describes the acid tests as how they where really like. The Trips festival must have been Awesome.

Amazon link(click) (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0767911865/qid=1122340582/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_sbs_1/002-0825475-1907253?v=glance&s=books&n=507846)

It also describes the wild parties at other locations. Locations like the Carousel(Fillmore West). They were just as crazy. The acid was everywhere. They loaded everything.
Must have been hard for Pigpen and Weir. They didn't like the old LSD.

Well Weir Freaked-out ones in 1966 somewhere. I believe they had dosed him so severely that he stayed weird for like some years. And I believe that something had happened when he was tripping. Don't know whaty exactly.

Pigpen like alcohol better. Acid just wasn't his thing.

I believe it was something like this. But correct me if I am wrong.
