'NO ON MEASURE B' PRIMARY BALLOT ARGUMENT (http://www.nomeasureb.org)
Measure B is a backward step towards marijuana re-criminalization
that targets small-scale, personal use growers.
Measure B is a step backward that would take law enforcement resources
away from more serious crimes.
It would make anyone with more than six plants a felon,
Commercial growers do not know about or care about local marijuana laws,

spokeswoman for the No on B organization

Why is Marijuana Illegal? (http://blogs.salon.com/0002762/stories/2003/12/22/whyIsMarijuanaIllegal.html) DWR by Pete Guither
"In some districts,
inhabited by Latin Americans, Filipinos, Spaniards and Negroes,
half the violent crimes are attributed to marijuana craze.
Dr. Lee Rice of San Antonio reports that eighty per cent
of all the murders committed by Mexicans
are done while the killers are drugged by marijuana."
- The Christian Century (newspaper) - 1938
"No person growing 25 plants is doing so for personal use
because even the sickest person does not need that much marijuana.
Measure G has created a permissive attitude in the county
that encourages large scale growers to come here
to grow marijuana commercially with little fear of prosecution."
- Ross Liberty,
Ukiah businessman, Yes on B coalition
Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation
of the prohibitionists at face value,
marijuana prohibition has done far more harm
to far more people than marijuana ever could.

Allman Not Taking Stand on Measure B By Ben Brown
CN Source: Ukiah Daily Journal March 19, 2008 California
Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman has not taken a position on Measure B, regardless of quotes used by No on B in the Mendocino County Voters Guide.
"As Sheriff, I have not and will not take a position on Measure B," Allman said. "It is my job to enforce the law, not make it. I support legitimate medical marijuana. I oppose commercial cultivation and sales of marijuana."

What are they thinking down in Mendocino??? (http://forums.cannabisculture.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showthreaded&Number=1396201)
My understanding is/was that a city council can not overturn a citizens initiative. So if the citizens don't get hoodwinked, "G" should remain in effect. Citizen Review boards and elections do wonders in keeping the politicops working for the citizens and not the DEAth Merchants. SC's city lawyer tried intimidating everyone and headlined a challenge to the initiative. Not much after that. Copshops everywhere seem obligated to "Save the Bloated Budgets and Confiscations", San DEAgo's been crying since 96 to overturn 215. These greedy sicko's with vested ignorance are all over the place. Suits to Nuts... When they pop their pointy lil heads up, we'll just keep a hammering them down... Not as many as there was before. With info at our fingertips, the racism, fascism and un-American Activities against such a versatile, job producing, profit plant. Many are saying "WTF!"

O Mendocino, How Green Is Your Ballot? (http://endingcannabisprohibition.yuku.com/topic/536)Debra J. Saunders
San Francisco Chronicle (CA) November 17, 2000
While state and federal laws against marijuana still stand, Measure G denies local funding for the arrest or prosecution of people who own up to 25 marijuana plants.
The Big G also mandates police protection for those who grow marijuana for personal use. Eh hem, I ask Dan Hamburg, a former Democratic congressman and G champion: 25 plants for personal use?
The answer: Not everyone has a green thumb. On the Mendocino coast, plants don't grow as heartily as they do inland. He admits that one could reap a pound from one plant...

Grow Tips by Nüz
S.C.Metro nuz 10.20.04 CA
With the county OKing a marijuana limit that allows patients up to 3 pounds for medical use and a 100-square-foot plant canopy, Nüz visited the WO/MEN'S ALLIANCE OF MEDICAL MARIJUANA's garden to see what those limits really look like.
One 6-foot plant, endearingly named VICTORIA, filled the county's canopy limit all by herself, but WAMM co-founder MIKE CORRAL warned growing isn't as easy as it looks, especially if, like WAMM, you don't spray plants with anything but "some old seaweed concoction against timber rot."
As it happens, WAMM members have already hand-picked 1,000 caterpillars off Victoria, who is billed as "Our country's first federally protected plant," and was planted May 1, after WAMM got an April 21 injunction which prohibits the feds from raiding the garden, at least for this year.
Corral says growing the green stuff is a constant battle with gophers (which he deters by planting root balls in wire baskets), not to mention chipmunks, squirrels, bunnies, rats and mice (which use the plant as bedding) and deer, which like to nibble the leaves.
"I have a hard time harvesting 3 pounds from 100 square feet, and that's after 30 years of experience and growing it in the best of circumstances," says Corral.

Safer Denver (http://saferdenver.saferchoice.org/)
WARNING: Do not be fooled by opponents' claims that this measure cannot be implemented. In fact, in Missoula, where a similar measure was adopted last year, officials recently announced an official policy in which they will refrain from arresting adults for marijuana possession.
It's not a matter of whether city officials can do this, but a matter of whether they will. If they do not, they are officially breaking more Denver laws than any adult marijuana user.
Marijuana Measure Not Likely To Matter By David Montero
CN Source: Rocky Mountain News November 08, 2007 Colorado
Once again on a ballot measure, Mason Tvert pushed for allowing marijuana possession in Denver, and once again, he got it by a whopping vote total. And once again, the vote likely means nothing legally. Ballot Question 100 sought to make possession of less than one ounce of marijuana the "lowest law enforcement priority."

Places that have decriminalized non-medical marijuana in the US (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Places_that_have_decriminalized_non-medical_marijuana_in_the_United_States)
Multiple places have decriminalized non-medical marijuana in the United States; however, marijuana is illegal under federal law. Most places that have decriminalized marijuana (also known as cannabis) have civil fines, drug education, or drug treatment in place of incarceration and/or criminal charges for possession of small amounts of marijuana, or have made various marijuana offenses the lowest priority for law enforcement. A few places, mainly in California, have removed all legal penalties for marijuana, including personal cultivation.

The government may be waging a war on illegal drugs, but it continually has the need for marijuana a lot of marijuana. In fact, it has just placed an order for one million cannabis (marijuana) cigarettes and some bulk pot, both Mexican and Colombian.
The National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) has awarded the $4.2 million, five-year contract to the University of Mississipi School of Pharmacy, which has been growing the federally-used marijuana under previous contracts.
