Good night (or early morning)
I'm Finnaz, or Finlay if you want my real name, or Fair Warrior if I want to pretend I'm actually some kind of Celt. I'm vegetarian. I try to oppose things like consumerism and such without sounding pretentious. Which is nigh on impossible so I give up and just tell sick jokes. I like hats (currently wearing a beret on top of a dreadsack). I would probably go more for some conspiracy theories if their main proposers weren't clearly insane (search Dr Deagle on youtube for more info, and lulz).
I tend to be a bit lazy when it comes to any sorta work. I'm rather un-confrontational. I'm generally prefer meeting new people to meeting old for some reason. I think it's because I can usually start a nice clean slate (I have a habit of making akward comments when drunk/stoned, so don't take anything I say personally if I do insult you)
Go ahead, ask away, if anyone's really that interested, which they aren't *pauses The Smiths for a second*

Welcome to the forums http://www.hipforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif I joined this site when I was 16 and just getting into all things hippy. I consider myself less of a hippy these days, but I'm still hanging around. What got you into the hippyish way of life?

Hello and welcome along, nice to see another new face:) Do you think the people you talk of propose/believe conspiracy theories *because* they are insane?
Finnaz
03-13-2008, 02:27 AM
^^^Most certainly Sir! To nowhereinparticular and beyond! *grabs jacket and empties a 20 deck into his mouth*
^^My Veggie-ness and commie-ness were what originally had me down that way. I've always been a pacifist (in any situation where it is viable obviously, I doubt the Castro bros/Che would have got very far with Ghandi-stylee marches. I've always kinda hated the system we live in, just recently I've started becoming a bit more conscious about it. Also, I've only realised recently how much our freedom is under threat from ridiculous 'anti-terror laws' yup, anti terror laws that stop peace protesters from going within 1km of Parliament, nice one.
Yeah so essentially, it's been a slow incline into hippieness. Yourself?
^Hmmm, tricky one that, I wouldn't say neccassarily no, I'd say it's more (with a lot of them anyway) to promote some alterior motive (a conspiracy inside a conspiracy so to speak) that Deagle guy for example, spends a lot of time mentioning how he sells some great medicines that can combat the evil mind powers of the space lizards that run the world.
I personally believe that, at the very least, the U.K and U.S governments have overhyped the threat of terror to enforce restrictive and oppressive laws. I probably would be more inclined to believe it (9/11 / 11/9) was an inside job if they'd just stick to a relatively sane explanation, rather than "there was no plane", "mini nukes were used" and my personal favourite "it was all a hologram".
Loads of the others seem to either use the standing they get among people to promote their own agendas, some are really antisemetic, some want a bit of money out of it, and some want fame. There's probably some semblance of truth in what they're saying, it just gets detracted from by all the nonsense.

officially hello mister, how are you this fine evening?
you're name sounds so incredibly neo-nazi, fair warrior. :D but i love it, it's a very cool name. do you have any celtic roots then?
a hologram eh? :) excellent.. what a world we live in where the media has everyone questioning whether they did actually see a massive plane fly into two of the tallest buildings in broad daylight. i'd like to ask you a really abstract question like 'what is truth?' but i won't, it's too late in the evening for abstract ponderings.
can you tell us a sick joke? :)

You say you like hats! What's your favourite hat? I tend to wear hats a lot cos I crochet them, they rock!
Ermm, if you had to support one cause (animal rights, nukes, climate change etc.) and no other for the rest of your life, which would you support?
Finnaz
03-14-2008, 12:09 AM
Ooh sick jokes first methinks, then on to morals. This one's a goodun, (so long as you aren't a royalist anyway)
How'd they know Princess Diana had dandruff?
They found her head and shoulders on the dashboard.
or
I heard Princess Di's been on the radio...
... and the steering wheel , and the windscreen.
I'd go further into the depths of depravity of some of them. (Maddie jokes, child abuse jokes in general, domestic violence jokes. I'd also like to point out that I find them funny mainly due to the levels of sickness, rather than me actually finding any of the subjects funny...except child abuse, that's a great laugh *jokes*)
Anyway, now to redeem myself hopefully.
Favourite hat would probably be the dreadsack my mum brought me back from Tanzania, nice and comfy! Then it's a tossup between my jester's hat and my beret.
I wish I was even half decent at anything that involves physical skill such as sewing and that malarky.
My name does sound a bit shockingly Aryan I know lol. My Mum was born and raised in the outer hebrides. But I haven't got any real gaelic blood or anything. Just a mixup of Aussie, Welsh and English really. Mongrel that I am.
If I had to support a cause and only that cause...hmmmm, tricky one that, I spooooose it'd have to be animal rights. Seeing as getting rid of the meat industry would help out the climate change cause inadvertently. Then I'd leave nukes though, damn, it's tricky that yeah. Yeah, definitely the animal rights one. VOTES FOR CHAFFINCHES NOW!

if you could choose one 'house band' to play regularly in your bedroom, what band would it be?
Finnaz
03-14-2008, 10:22 PM
Ooh, nice looking book. I am love teh cupcakes.
Most hats, I had a hat-off with a mate once, I managed 7, two woolly hats, a bobble hat, flat cap, beret, and three caps. He beat me though...top hat = auto-win.
If I could get a house band, hmmmm, do they have to still be around? I doubt I would ever get bored if I had the Bonzos playing every night in my room.
nerthus
03-14-2008, 10:32 PM
yaay :) favourite cupcake? i think blueberry wins hands down..
seven is impressive, would've thought the bobble hat would unbalance it a little bit... not a great choice for a hat-off.
who would've won in a top hat-off, dya think? that'd be an incredible sight. :D
no they don't have to be alive, don't be silly. hmm, never heard of the bonzos, can you sum them up in four words for me?
are you having a nice evening?
hehe..lots of questions..
Finnaz
03-14-2008, 10:56 PM
Do butterfly cupcakes count? Nothing beats butter icing. Otherwise I'd second your blueberry. The bobble hat wonkified things slightly I admit. A tophat-off would be brilliant, I need to invest in one really.
Bonzos, short for Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonzo_Dog_Doo-Dah_Band) rather marvelouslu trippy jazz rocky stuff from the 60s. Such lines as "I'm the urban spaceman baby, I've got speed, I've got everything I need" and "There's a woman coming this way with a rather marvelous baby ...kangaroo...excuse me miss...are you pro-shirts?"
Truly insane stuff, always cheers me up.
I'm having a rather nice evening, fed my nicotine addiction and am now about to cosy up to a bit of Jonothan Ross with a cuppa hopefully. Yourself?
nerthus
03-14-2008, 11:43 PM
mmm buttter icing. that counts, and that is a fair point :)
hehe you'd need more than one tophat for a tophat off. it would involve an amazing balancing act.
i seee.. they sound good! cheering up is good.
don't think jonathon ross is on...sport relief night or something. unless you have him in your room, and you were just considering snuggling up to him. hmm. many uncomfortable questions there. i won't ask them.
what star sign are you?
Finnaz
03-15-2008, 12:26 AM
I'd imagine a Ross cuddle would be quite lovely. I did realise that the usual scheduling was interrupted, but he did end up turning up anyway and I confess I did enjoy seeing the Top Gear chappies wreck Steve Redgrave's garden.
Star sign-wise, I'm a libra. Year of the ram too, which, weirdly enough, makes me likely to be a veggie. What star sign/year do you fall into?

What are your thoughts on Marxism/socialism as a political ideology?
Should all drugs be legalised? If not, should any?
Finnaz
03-15-2008, 01:07 AM
Hehe, so many qvestions! Smell, either brownies after you pull em out the oven (made myself hungry now) or tobacco, though that's probably just my nicotine craving receptor's favourite smell to be honest.
Guavas, never managed to have one on it's own, plenty of smoothies with Guava in, seems lovely enough. I remembered knowing you had deja vu there.
Uni'll probs be somewhere I can do something like Media Studies and Performance arts, maybe Bristol if I magically do well enough when it comes to As.
Marxism/Socialism, they're rather brilliant. They can be twisted for people's insane agendas, but then again, what can't? I'd prefer anarchy, (of the peaceful variety) but Castro-esque communism would be my 2nd choice (though admittedly preferably with a little more free speech).
I do believe all drugs should be legalised, government monitored and be kept to specialised cafes. There should be no advertising allowed for any drug (including alcohol) and there should be truthful government warnings about the dangers of each drug. That way, the users become less of a risk to themselves and others. The prices would plummet, meaning crime to pay for drugs would plummet. Violent crime associated with the drugs trade would plummet and police could focus on more important things, like better gun and other dangerous weapon control. Also, with the money raised from inevitable taxation of previously illegal drugs and the money saved from stopping the war on drugs. Then the NHS could be improved greatly.

My p'rents are going away for a few days at the beginning of the hols so much in the way of *brownies* shall be made. Just gotta find some way of hiding a lot of them till shambala. You reckon you could make brownies on a gas stove? I think the cannabutter would work, but not so sure about baking them.
Green partywise, I support every policy of theirs pretty much. Hopefully once people get more concerned about climate change they'll stand a greater chance of election. They'd certainly do a much better job than any of the main political parties.
Favourite places: The Hebrides (when it's sunny, or hammering it down, the inbetween is a bit bad though) or Tazmania, really beautiful. Don't think much of Tazmanian Devils though, horrible little violent things. Spend half of their time fighting and inbreeding, and the other half inbreeding and fighting.

Patchouli wards off "unwanted" smells, yeah ;) (I admit I've patchouli'd in lieu of showering sometimes).
On that note, are you a shower-every-day person, or a "dirty hippie" ;) or somewhere in between?
Do you think abortion should be legal? If so, up until what time?
Finnaz
03-17-2008, 12:21 AM
I usually shower when my hair gets greasy, which is once every 3/4 days. So that probably counts as somewhere in between.
I reckon abortion should be legal. But only until the brain has developed pain receptors (can't remember exactly what time that is, something like 2 months) after then, I think it's a little too harsh. Plus I think it also allows for enough time to realise you're pregnant, and also choose.
You?
Quoth the Raven
03-17-2008, 12:35 AM
Me, I think it should be legal at any point (as long as it's medically feasible), under any circumstances whatsoever. In my view the rights of the woman take precedence.. it's contrary to popular morality but an adult contributes more to society than a child.

It's usually either combinations of animals/objects, deformed figures, manga versions of people (that aren't that great before you go asking for one hehe) or just bizarre stuff. (I have a picture with me at all times of a massive chocolate digestive destroying a city.
Popcorn, I'd say toffee (in small quantities), but large quantities it'd have to be sugar. Damn, I want some now and all I have to consume in my room is a can of white star :(

I got a myspace ages ago, forgot what my login details were though. MSN would be finnrokz@hotmail.com
Most played music, top three would probably be Voodoo Child by Hendrix (reminds me of watching Withnail and I) , What Difference does it Make by the Smiths (nice and cheery) and that new Elbow song Grounds for Divorce. Which is quality.

Thinking about it, I'd hardly say life changing, but Bill Bryson's travel books make me wanna up and go on a random journey somewhere. 1984 also hardened my resolve against fascism and that. Made me contemplate what I'd do in that situation.

I have wasted many a lesson trawling through lolcats images.
Hmmm, PETA, they never do anything over here do they? From what I can see though, they do some good work bringing things to people's attentions. Though they do come across a little bit loud and annoying on some of their stuff. They do make some pretty interesting points. But they generally get drowned out in the things they do like "I'd rather go naked than wear fur", which, as nice as it is. Doesn't do a lot to save animals in fur factories. As much as I know I'll probably end up on some government list for saying this. I prefer direct action (as in freeing and rehoming factory farmed animals, not the kidnapping/intimidation) groups, they get the point across (most of the time) and generally end up doing a lot more than alienate people by screaming murderer at them.
Greenpeace, they do some decent stuff. My view on Nuclear Power is quite in the middle. On the one hand, I know that it's a more useful non-fossil fuel method than most (so long as you ignore the fact that it takes fossil fuels to mine Uranium. But on the other hand, it has quite a bit of risk involved with it, and waste. Anyone willing to sway my view either way? Unlike the PETA one however, I feel that (whaling wise), both Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd do good work towards combating whaling.

Hehe, article makes some interesting points. I'm obviously far more in favour of using a lot less energy than using nuclear. It's just most renewable energies are a bit moot. Most Wind turbines use more energy to create than they will ever make back, Tidal barriers cause massive species disruption and damage, same with a number of hydroelectric power stations. If we could get nuclear fusion going that'd be nice, actually it'd probably be even riskier. If we could all learn to live of solar power alone that'd be nice, pretty bloody useless with the weather at the moment though.

If you had a million quid, what would you spend it on?
Finnaz
03-19-2008, 12:52 AM
Probably sounds a bit like banging on the same annoying drum this lol, but I'd probably buy a small wood, then populate it with freed battery chickens.
Either that or use it to fund my amazing plan to start a commune/dope growing operation on a Hebridean island.

Only had a population of 16 back in 2001 so I reckon you could eeaasily get away with a drugs farm there. Check out some of the pics at the bottom. I could happily sit there for days, so damn tranquil.

Ooh, that looks like a damn nice place.. bit cold for weed to grow quickly though.. you'd be OK with indoor hydroponics but otherwise it'd have to be greenhouses..
Finnaz
03-19-2008, 01:19 AM
I was thinking massive greenhouses. I figure the amount of policing on the island is null so I wouldn't have to hide it or anything hehe. Plus, it's got a pretty good linkup to the mainland, so we could sell any excess in Glasgee every so often.

Would you rather eat a toads leg or kiss a snake (with tongues)?

I've tried pomegranates, liked em, but hardly worth the effort it takes to get like the single gram of fruit out the thing.
Kiss a snake probs (so long as it's not poisonous anyhow), toad might miss it's leg hehe.

Lighter? I have a number of them, most out of fuel though. Got a blue one with a UV light, got a pink regular one. And a wierd (though quite good) red cylindrical one. Oh and some tiny one I with a shuriken shaped flint that I have to use my fingers to light with.
Favourite food, Fajitas! With refried beans, onions, red pepper, quorn nuggets, salsa and sour cream. mmmMmmmMMMMmmmm damn all this food conversation, I've had no lunch and I'm starving.

Essential oils, never really used them, any you'd reccomend? I am a bit red blooded in some aspects to do with any sort of -atherepy type things I have to admit.
Where in the U.K, hmmm, still never been to Northern (or Southern, but that isn't in the U.K) Ireland, love to go there. Yourself?
I have discovered the wonderful your posts page, tis rather useful, though I use the "Your active threads" panel more generally. Currently arguing with gun nuts so it helps to get in quickly before they accuse me of ignoring them.
I'd say the biggest thing that's wrong with the world is the love of money, not entirely sure of the best course of action for solving it though.

ufo tofu, hehe, excellent. not an easy one to slip into conversation that.
my favourite one is this one by demetri martin. hard to believe it reads the same backwards as forwards.
Dammit I'm mad.
Evil is a deed as I live.
God, am I reviled? I rise, my bed on a sun, I melt.
To be not one man emanating is sad. I piss.
Alas, it is so late. Who stops to help?
Man, it is hot. I'm in it. I tell.
I am not a devil. I level "Mad Dog".
Ah, say burning is, as a deified gulp,
In my halo of a mired rum tin.
I erase many men. Oh, to be man, a sin.
Is evil in a clam? In a trap?
No. It is open. On it I was stuck.
Rats peed on hope. Elsewhere dips a web.
Be still if I fill its ebb.
Ew, a spider… eh?
We sleep. Oh no!
Deep, stark cuts saw it in one position.
Part animal, can I live? Sin is a name.
Both, one… my names are in it.
Murder? I'm a fool.
A hymn I plug, deified as a sign in ruby ash,
A Goddam level I lived at.
On mail let it in. I'm it.
Oh, sit in ample hot spots. Oh wet!
A loss it is alas (sip). I'd assign it a name.
Name not one bottle minus an ode by me:
"Sir, I deliver. I'm a dog"
Evil is a deed as I live.
Dammit I'm mad.
although to be honest, that's pretty hard to slip into conversation too.

What's your biggest fear?
When are you happiest?
Do you own a pair of straighteners?
Finnaz
03-22-2008, 12:55 AM
Biggest fear, hmm, I'm a complete hysterical pansy when it comes to roller coasters and speed+heights in general. One of the reasons I avoid theme parks like the plague.
Happiest, when I'm having a funny conversation with someone. That always cheers me up.
Straighteners? Nah, hair's straight enough as is. Not overly vain (or, to avoid causing offence to anyone with straighteners, I'm lazy) either. Got a couple of mates who use em, they have to spend about 20 minutes a day on them burning their hair off. Seems a bit of a waste of time imo.
nynysuts

Wow, i'm so happy, someone else who doesn't own straighteners!!!! My sister spends half an hour everyday frazzling her hair, s'rubbish.
Do you like rainbows?
Sun or moon?
Finnaz
03-22-2008, 01:06 AM
Hooray for non hair melting!!
Rainbows, yeaaaaaahhhh! Only problem is whenever I see one it makes me wanna run off and keep going after it even though I know you can't reach the end. Which is annoying, because I'm invariably in class/a car when I see one.
Moon, you can stare at it for ages without going blind, and it's invariably out when the stars are, and stars are better than clouds to stare at. Also, around here, night time is actually the most chav-free time to hang out. Because they mostly live in near by places, and are year 9s (in my defence, there are about 30 of them). Night's the time when all the emos/stoners come out where I live, which is quality, 'cause I love meeting new people.

Already been the life changing book question, but that's kinda different so...
Favourite Author, would say probably Douglas Adams, makes me rofl when I read. Shame he died before he could write more.

I'll usually beat around the bush for fear of causing offence, though I do blurt it out without thinking on occasion.
I'd say the strangest thing I've done was probably either until I started growing my hair, I had a number 2 cut. *shudder*. Either that or when I accidentally shaved half my eyebrow off, that was a bit of a balls up.

I enjoy it, I know it's bad for me, but I'm not overly bothered. It does get demonised to the point where people assume it does nothing, but it does relieve stress. Probably a side effect of the nicotine addiction, but meh.
Not particularly worth all the health problems, so don't go starting, but I enjoy it so I'll probably keep smoking till my mid thirties when I'll have an epiphany of some sort.

"Buzkashi is often compared to polo. Both games are played between people on horseback, both involve propelling an object toward a goal, and both get fairly rough. However, polo is played with a ball, while Buzkashi is played with a dead animal."
that's quite a big distinction really. be a bit of a bummer to enter a game thinking you were playing polo and then see a goats carcass flying towards you at speed.
that's awesome though, in a grotesque way.
aww, 02 loves you.
on a more serious topic, what's your opinion on blood sports? that includes fox and deer hunting, for sake of argument, that thing with bulls in that hot country (my brain just turned off sorry), uh..bear baiting etc. etc.

Finnaz
03-30-2008, 10:40 PM
Yeah, the worst bit about the law is the fact that the police in the areas have no intention of enforcing it, because half of them are pro-fox hunting or scared of the power the awfully nice fellows on horses have. So they instead prosecute saboteurs for trespassing and other ridiculous things.
I think what it involves is either confronting the hunt, blocking them off, or making a lot of noise to scare the fox off/confuse the dogs.

Heightness, not entirely sure, bout mid height, 5'8 or 9ish I think.
I do love the Jaffa cake me, bit of info, it's a cake due to spongey bottom syndrome (throwing that out there to see if anyone gets the reference)
Carrot I think, less of a nuisance than the apple, (either having to cut it up or fiddling with my retainers for half an hour)
nynysuts
04-03-2008, 08:27 PM
Ooo, you have the same apple trouble as me! Well apart from the fact that I still have wiry horrible braces which don't seem to be doing anything at the moment now the gaps in my teeth have closed up. Ah well, orthodontist monday, it's been 15 months now.
Moths or butterflies?
What is your opinion on gardener's world?
Finnaz
04-03-2008, 09:34 PM
15 months? Ouch, I had mine for a year, now I got these retainers on the backs for 5 months. Not as bad as the braces most of the time, but if something gets caught in them, it won't EVER come out.
Moths, dunno why they get so much stick, they're out at night, plus, does any butterfly have a caterpillar like this?:
http://www.whatsthiscaterpillar.co.uk/Caterpillars%20submitted/pussmoth.jpg
(Pussmoth FTW, it has the cutest name of anything EVER, and it lives in the UK) Not to mention the fact that Hummingbird Moths are mad-pretty.
