BEING TRUE TO SELF
Sometimes people ask how Do I be true to my Self ?
Take away all your excuses for not Doing that which you Know is yours to Do - that which brings fire and a higher purpose - a raison'detre for your being.
We all make all kinds of excuses about why we cannot do that which calls to us and then try to feel noble and call it a sacrifice and couch this excuse in terms that make it more acceptable for us to turn away from that which feeds our Self - our higher being.
And we live with resentment and selfrighteousness ... until finally we can stand it no longer and turn and face our Self.
Guilt does no one any good - - Was the lesson learned ? - then praise the lesson no matter how terrible the "mistake" was that ushered in the lesson.
We are here to learn and grow NO ? - is verdad ? is this not true ? Aye ?
In pursueing the Path that calls to our higher Self, the lessons of import to that Path will be in the Way we travail. This is our Work... And always within this, is to help others - Not to sacrifice our Selves to and for others - but to help them come to that same freedom that we have come to live and breathe ourselves.
And freedom does not mean nothing left to lose, but that you never had anything to lose in the first place, but that which you attached yourself to.
ANY one's greatest possesion and ONLY possession is their own Self. It's what we take with us and bring with us. It's what we Must come to respect and honor if we wish to have any real fulfilment in this life. Any thing else eventually does not ring - resonate with truth - And eventually all we really have left is Being True to Self !

Arms open wide, Facing the whirlwind
Not trying to hide, Being vulnerable
Understanding so elusive at times.
Love remains, and always will
Your shields are up, and I accept
It seems that hurt has drawn you in
While I sorrow with you, there is naught I can do
I am still the same as I always was.
I have not tried to trick or hide,
Tried to open completely
Tried not to hurt any, tried to stay open to all
But I cannot control others minds, nor would want to.
Each must come to their own, you see
So I stand aside with my shields still down
But wonder if you will let yourself see
Sometimes it's easier to close down than to work it through
And sometimes we need to go away
to think things through.
My love will be here, it will not change
Though with tears in my eyes and more in my heart,
my hand stays open to both hold and let go
I will not close , for that is not my Way.
One of life's greatest gifts is the power to choose how we will react
And I choose to go on loving
and hope you choose the same
but with understanding,
my hand stays open to both receive and let go.
And I accept what ever life brings
And though some pain I know I will feel
still on go I throughout it all
And fight to stay open and true
and not to defend agaist what others may misconstrue.
Look in my heart and see for yourself
I have remained true with all I've said to you
All I can do is to remain true and stay open and loving
the rest I'm afraid is up to you
So I stand with arms open wide and face the whirlwind
Accepting and loving and open still
And ever my love goes out to you
What else would you have me do ?
To thine own Self be true

One with you
coming ever closer
I begin to See
that loving you is loving me
Knowing you is knowing me
Respect allows us to fly
each in their own Way
But being One with you
makes me yet more

Be Still ... and Listen
Let's talk about Stilling the internal dialogue - you know the constant barage of feedback and distractions where we reaffirm our internal programs as to how we view reality.
All the disciplines teach many varieties of methods for acheiving this state. All mystical paths utilize it.It is THE 1 most important thing you will ever gift yourself with - the ability to stop the internal dialogue and just open your Awareness - concentrate on opening and perceiving without labeling.... a watchfulness, a listening - - opening your being to all that you are >> all the way back to the I Am.
The internal dialogue keeps reaffirming the program of separateness that the ego feels it needs to survive - so there will be times when you need to ride the waves as the cyclic nature , the breathng of the universe, times when it flows and times when the concentration is scattered and we must fight to persevere (- but not so hard as to enter an adversarial relationship with it) - it's a letting go and a coming home. And the key to shamanism, yoga, meditation, martial arts, magic - any discipline where the attention must be focused, utilizes some degree of facility in entering those altered states of consciousness. Altered states of consciousness - you alter your state of consciousness to include more and take a hiatus from the normal condition of conforming to a restricted perception and limited scope to our awareness . our ability to be open minded - without preconceptions distorting what we allow ourselves to see/understand.
Methods and techniques - there are so many - most of us have these little quirky things we do (you know rituals - affirmations for the mind to facilitate going into altered states). Nature - white noise, auto hypnotism (going to use that phrase to cover a large variety of methods of similiar bent), brainwave control (biofeedback and the large variety of techniques and enhancing technologies (space music, pulsating sounds and lights of specific vibratory periods that lend to lowering the vibrational brainwave activities ( beta>alpha>theta>delta).
Landmarks on "the other side" - the 'flip side' (and you better put a bunch of plurality to the differing realities available) of normal reality, are enough similiar that the various disciplines can have in common reference points.
Now most of us "old ones" have learned some variety of methods for stilling the mind - - whatever works best for you. And the stories we can tell ... but then words just somehow do no justice; and commonality of reference points - those landmarks - similarities in experience - allow us to communicate.
This is something that most of us have views and experiences that underline the held in common awareness that "normal reality" just really ain't real.
Let's talk about the techniques without the accompanying belief systems and their jargon - that means talk about our experiences and techniques but not how our own need to identify, labels them.
Come on now you've all been waiting for some more substantial fare than most of the pap running around in here that passes as communication (about ... ? - blech - how can we distact ourselves now ......fluff !). So take away them inhibitions and let us explore together.

Yeah
Very well said. I find that my mind prefers to run crazily in circles. To get it to be still is a choice I must force upon it by subterfuge. Choosing whatever method works best at that particular moment. Much like attaching a lead to a wolf or mustang. Many folks I know have profound moments of enlightenment sitting on the john as that is the only time they are quiet and still. Let that not be me.

Eye now, that's a good question and I must feed you back what you fed me - just take one task at a time - will be enough till the next finds its way - the joy is in the doing and the sharing.
Like meditation - or going down to levels, or entering alpha, or stilling the mind and opening the doors of perception. Does it start and end in the sitting ? Is the sitting needed once the habit is inculcated ?
Taking time out is so important - coming up for air to get aglimpse of the far shores toward which we strive.
And the food we take in ? Just how important is that ? Is sustenance just food, - and energy and the people we share our spaces with and the thoughts we dwell in - are these our homes - soaring high on the wings of the seeker in the cold thin high air - the sun shines brightly
>> adding to with edit until another post...
What about the people you hang with - so many defensively wish to overlook this one, but it's so important. What we hang around we become more like - what thoughts do you entertain - we are in control and liable for our thoughts might as well take responsibility or the price we may end up paying may be more than the momentary diversion was worth. And so too with people - be around any kind of energy and the vibrational pattern will interact and subltly or not so interact and change - harmonize and creates dissonance - changing just by association our energy out and in by that interaction. Can be monitored and controlled but depending on how influential the energies being associated with, corruption may be quick and un-obvious, and sometimes the work to overcome a bad habit pattern far outweigh the pleasure the habit brought - usually - doesn't usually turn out to be as good as it looked in the first place.
You know, one of the wonderful things about the aging seekers - those that try to enhance awareness and the quality of experience to further our understanding and ability to interact with Existence - is that the pieces gathered start dovetailing - our energy levels (speaking from personal experience - should any know of a way to increase the energy without great time expenditure or debilitating affect - hey, let me know) are not as up to acting as thoroughly and fully on what shows the need for changes within that we once had in the younger days when the hills didn't take so long to climb.... the poem in the thread waysharing was much about the concept of continuing our involvement with the Work (I use that term 'capitalized' to refer to growing Awareness and expanding Consciousness - becoming more Whole, and helping others find their OWN Way - that being one of the surest and fastest methods of acheiving it.
So many avenue and by-ways
so many areas of interest and even some amount of expertise gained within this experience we call life, should we open ourselves to it
so many ideas, possibilities and areas of interest to share and sharing the interest somehow gives it even more value
So many ways.... and so few willing to open themselves and Do the work of initiating the changes within needed to bring us to optimum potential.
So many mouthing the word with empty intent in walking the Way. or even with good intent but no willingness to Do the Doing needed - you know - that one step at a time - don't happen iffn you stop the attempt. But without that gift of hope of becoming that Being we Know we Are, life just does not seem to contain that invigorating fire that spurs us on to greater heights, and gives us the peace and contentment to know that we have done the best with this moment.

During these times we see people hurry-scurrying and up in arms, worried about what may happen tomorrow. What will become of this old planet, what will the human race make of herself.
Well bulletin - that's NOT what this existence is about. It IS about the individual. What will you make of your life. What Do you Do as your actions. When all is said and done, it is strictly about what you have learned, how you have grown.
So while I'm NOT saying that being concerned about where we as a nation or race or world are heading is wrong - what I AM saying is that what YOU are in charge of is how you live this life This IS yours AnD YOU are responsible for that and only that.

Intuition and imagination; those closely linked and sometimes hard to tell apart tools, that must be utilized by any aspiring to go Beyond.
Intuition gives us guidance and allows us to gather information from sources not necessarily available in the physical.
Imagination is that which is created from within the individual, and does not have to adhere to any "reality" and may exist apart from all realities save that particular chapter within our own psyche.
Often the challenge for those trying to tap into intuition is to be able to distinguish the two. When intuition comes through loud and clear, there is a more obvious flavor that is fairly hard to mistake even for the neophyte. On the other hand, intuition seldom come through loud and clear, but instead demands us to practice the stilling of the mind and being quiet - listening. All too often the desire gets in the way, and leaves us hoping that what we now have our attention focused on, can indeed be intuition rather than our own, mayhap overactive imagination.
Intuition is an inner Knowing and most practitioners who have developed any expertise in invoking it have come to rely on it as truth - some recognizing that our perception of it may be limited to our own understandings of existence at large.
Imagination on the other hand is a tool most often used to explore possibilities andcreate realms for our own gratification and release of pent up energies. Often life, and those that have great influence over us, deals situations that leave us with charges that we can release through interacting with them by creating scenarios that allow us to release some of the charge. And sometimes we escape into that realm simply because our life here has so little to keep our attention, while in the imaginary we can be do whatever we allow ourselves to entertain, and with the possibility of being totally under our control (for many, life seems totally out of their control). As well in working one's will (also called magic) one utilizes the imaginative faculty to visualize a desired result.
The problem come when one wishes to verify something as real and are not sure which it is : imagination or intuition. Even when we have practiced stilling the mind, we are sometimes left questioning the resulting information that we perceive. Detachment and concentration are useful tools that help in creating definition and clarity. All too often we find that we have emotional charges on results (desires) and it is then difficult to distinguish how to value information. Concentration helps to eliminate contamination by the desires.
Concentration can be strengthened through contemplation (focused attention on a particular subject). By nature concentration is exclusive, it excludes other subjects from distracting the attention.
Detachment...- All too often we find that we have desires riding on outcomes. We wish for this or that and have well grounded fears that these desires may sway the untainted information we seek. As well when working wills we find that in focusing on a particular desire, our mind wanders to a variety of possibilities and interferes with a one pointed focus on that which we are working on and thus disperses much of the energy we seek to focus. Detachment focuses on being able to deal with whatever comes through. In a combination of impregnability and vulnerability we Know that whatever happens will garner us greater growth and we are up to handling whatever, no mater how terrible it may be. Detachment does not exclude compassion, but often you will find those that practice detachment have a hands off policy; recognizing that whatever trials come at any one individual can be handled by them and in doing so that individual will Grow - and just who are we to take away the growth potentials of another ?
And on and on we grow, where we end - who knows

Spiraling through lives, gazing around
Movement sharpens the attention
A cry sounds from below wafting up -
Eyes meet Circling on high looking for sustenance
Finding fellowship across the abyss
Searching throughout time
We Are
Seeking and Finding
We Are
No less
I Am
For That
You Are
Open hand to both hold and let go
Coming home to Be
Walking together and flying apart
Yet still WE Are
Hearing your cry, desolate wails of lost times without hope
Holding firm and staying the course
Knowing We are
Without but yet Within
We Are
Experience the teacher
Pain the lessons
Despair the brink
To let go - the Abyss
To Go the course
So oft refused
Yet Within is reflected Without
To let go - Be whole
Seeking through time
Looking Without, Seeing Within
We Are
Stepping into the Abyss
To Let Go - Be Whole
Be
Joy of Beholding
Transformation so deep
Transcending the long moments of torment
of lost times alone
Coming through the Beauty
Unleashing the Being
Together again
We Are

Open, Caring, Sharing
Coming to wholeness within
Each their own Way through the realms
Byways and crossroads aplenty
Striding on down the street her head held high
looking straight you in the eye as spirit greets spirit
she greets you and calls to you of simpler times
When people would wend their Way more openly than today
Down from the hills on silent feet
Peering within and letting us see what we would rather hide
wasting no time he cuts to the chase
and growls "what are you doing for you"
Flying along whether by broom or by feather
The story teller speaks truths of yore
And helps each to look into their heart
Leaving you feeling like you're special and real
Another need sets the story loom a weaving
each one seems just for them - But so many others
will find within a piece of themselves as well
Strange bedfellows these, yet laughter does betell
And shouts of joy and teasing remarks
let you know, no strangers these
And off to the hills away from crowd and light
journeying on their ways exploring and sharing
you oft feel them before you see them
there's something a wee bit magical
that flitters around betwixt them
Fresh air and open hearts, openly shared
that leaves many a yearning;
yet their directness of gaze oft disconcerts,
as they look inside and evoke the spirit
that so many have denied.
And hope follows them, as does their love;
that three such as they, so varied and strange,
could find their way together;
Mayhap there's hope still yet
for those not quite so fey.
may you sleep well

Lessons
By the actions we take we choose the lessons we learn.
At a certain point one must go beyond the known, beyond the safe, and venture into the territory that encompasses the individual life. To do so nesecitates going on one's own.
As a parent one tries to keep the aspirant on the Path of easiest growth, i.e. the Path which will, with least hindrance, bring one to optimal growth. As a parent one must let go, and indeed even seem to push the offspring on the Path of their own choosing, when it becomes obvious that such autonomous choices are being made.
As the aspirant first goes on their own, a safety net is provided, with time the safety net is pushed away and refused. This is a period of transition. The student chooses autonomously yet tries to remain enfolded in the cocoon of safety that was once part of the guiding parents responsibility to offer. There is both a pushing away and a nostalgic grasping for that which they can no longer have. It is not possible to make one's own choices and duck the responsibility inherent in the choosing.
During this period of transition friction between what the parent wants for the aspirant and what the aspirant chooses for himself become apparent. If the parent pushes their will on the aspirant there will be rebellion. If the aspirant tries to hold the parent in the place of responsibility when the choices are their own, then resentment ensues. Eventually, both must let go.
Often letting go has the appearance of rejection, and to a certain extent it is. The aspirant does reject the guidance of the parent. The parent does reject responsibility of the choices of the aspirant. To NOT offer that mutual rejection causes a unhealthy dependence that inhibits the further growth of both parties. Any lessons learned under the cloud of that codependency must be relearned over again as a responsible individual. Most lessons hit harder the second time around.
Watching a child go through the necessary steps to follow their own Path often involves watching them throw away what the parent thought were their best choices. The child wants protection from their choices which can no longer be given, the parent wants to direct the choices of the child and can no longer do so. It is important at this time for the parent to let go of their own aspirations for the child AND stop taking
responsibility for their actions, so that the child can get true feedback on the choices they are making ; and for the child to stop putting expectations on the parent and move on to their own life - apart from the parents. Realization must be made: nobody loses, everybody wins.
How do we judge what is best to do? Look to the heart. Learn to Listen. Any time we cop out, any time we take the easy way, any time we do not do what we Know is needed; we are Not following the Heart. We are Always given an Answer If we ask. As we follow up on what we are given, the Way becomes clearer; and often we are able, after a time of Doing that which we Know is "right", to See why we are given the tasks that take us where we begin to realize we wish to go.
Even as constantly following the heart leads us to the Path that is ours, and becomes the Joy of our life; so also Not following the Heart leads to confusion, hurt, anger, blame, and eventual rejection of all that is offered us. Life is Good though and at any time we can suffer a realization, become enlightened (however temporarily) and change; or slip into backsliding and regress back even further than we were before we came into this life.
By the actions we take we chose the lessons we learn.

The problem is that we live in a very materialistic society... it's hard for a lot of people to 'keep it real' so to speak, but I know exactly what you mean. When people begin to realize which basics are truly important in life, then all is good.

Learning does not have to be a series of hard lessons - we can love ourselves enough that we can change that way of perceiving - instead life can become a series of opportunities - instead of punishing ourselves for mistakes we can reward ourselves for lessons we learn.Lessons learned through the reward method can have long term effects and can actually shorten the time we need to spend a learnin. Should we shortcut the old paradigm of mistake after mistake with the reciprocating hard knocks of punishing ourselves with the guilt and balancing of karma - we can move forward into a realm where we enjoy the rewards of seeing new lessons coming toward us as we choose to face them and open ourselves to them instead of seeking a way around them and presenting excuses for not learning and instead of avoiding. We Can live in loving ourselves and with the territory that paradigm brings with it - of being worthy of wonderful growth, constanly ushering in new lessons to further us on our Patrh of becoming yet more Whole - always looking for ways to change for the better - appreciating our true beauty as we join the godhead

Right alongside honoring ourselves and seeing ourselves within the higher perspective of being One with the godhead, we can honor our connection with the All.
Each individual morsel of existence has the purpose of becoming more Whole - of adding - enhacing the quality of Existence. Within this perspective we are indeed Connected and part of and intricately interwoven with all our Connections (Relations). And we Can hear the song and interactions with each should we so choose. We can be a part of the peon of praise - or we can be apart, and wall ourselves off, presenting constant excuses to ourselves as to why we can not be a part of the Whole - And suffer the choices of guilt and it's adherances -
yup our choices have many ramifications and you know what - it's actually easier to honor and love ourselves - our Self - our Connection, making us a part of the Whole and come to Oneness.
But we have free choice - to continue in suffering the excuses as to why we should not love our Self enough to open to it and the continued guilt that trails along with it.
Why not choose to Love and Honor and Be True to Self and join and raise our consciousness combining with All - Connecting and sharing in the vibrations of Wholeness as the I Am opens itself in love to every last, be it ever so little, so unassuming, part - the alternative is your own creation of little hells gradually assuming the proportion of overwhelming darkness where the light of Love seems feeble and near extinguished - But Lo t'is not so - just and erroneous perception.
So praise the flower and the tree honor the deer and bear with even the mosquito - all have their own place and all are valued as a part of the Whole of which we too are a part. The rocks as well speak of their place in the firmament of All that IS.
WE ARE

Softly weeping I hear you call, wondering where you may fit in , where be your place.... And i do not know if the weeping be yours or mine.
What is mine to do as I go through this change, ... I can do this or that but where be the special Work that calls me forth that I can See my place.
Yes we grow on, but sometimes we just want to know what place of value do we fulfill.
These questions come forth from the core of our time here in this life - family and friends all seem to find within a place they can push off from - and though I look and see not there that which speaks to me ... yet deeper delving I Know I Am and ask what does this mean.
And No, I do not dwell therein, I glance at the child as he calls and with a soft smile tell him he does belong, he fills a need for all. We grow on and in that growth we find what can be when all is committed to All. Going deeper yet into my Being I feel the beauty grow and face to face I come to me the beauty beyong words to describe - and in that shining I humbly See that One with All are we and therein lays our greatest task, to free ourselves to Be.
Ever does my love call to you yet open hands a must ... and sometimes I see you take a step away unsure, and sometimes I hear you say it's too much, and understand it's not me who demands, but deep inside you hear you Self call to you and show you all that is yours. And if we dwell in what's demanded surely lost will be, but Seeing the One shining O so bright and Know that is but Thee.
And I know that loving you is loving me and in the All are we.

The Truth may hurt, but still it sets you Free
Cannot you see, Cannot you See
Nothing to hide, Nothing to fear
You can Be real, you can Be here
When we create alternate realities
We do not escape from all we live
Our Trust in others and Self then flees
And we find we have nothing real left to give
Others may lie to you
But to lie to Self
Is it really real to you ?
Who then are you ?
Ties that bind
And keep you in the blind
What can you Do
But be Whole and True
How can your heart fly
When you're living a lie
Please take away any excuse
From this form of Self abuse
For when we tell lies
The Truth out the window flies
The Trust is a Must
Without that Trust
How can you Be Free
How can you Love True and let your Self Be
So all I can say to you
To thine own Self be True
Let the Truth Set your Self Free
Else where is the Trust 'tween me and thee
Creating an alternate reality
When we do not like what we see
Does not more control give
But inhibits potential of what we may live
And why not call it a lie
From whom are you trying to hide
Just another form of denial
When you can all the while
Set your Self free
Your Higher Self Be
And I will AlWays still Love You

OldWolf,
Hey-yes..it is for me,-Wonderful Poem of Truth-
To make the interior contracts with myself and Spirit and very close guides. Exterior contracts with Spirit have helped immensely also.
Just one-I stood on an ancient burial mound near Mt Shasta and invoked my guides and Spirit and contracted strength in certain areas of my life..a ritual I still do, feeling contrary or positive..it works to make those contracts.
Only you and Spirit know if you break them..being true to yourself-raising that interior integrity-Loving Yourself.
MammaMoon and I sat outside last night waiting for our new pet Skunk to arrive and made a contract of "renewed humility in the face of so many blessings coming into our lives"--in a moment our windchimes chimed-in a brief breeze- and then suddenly stopped. We receive answers like that often.
I believe the results of mainfestations through interior contracts come in the form of happinees and joy!
Peace

Each Path is equal // Awareness Grows
Every Path is as varied and unique
As the individual who Walks it
No one Path should be valued over another
Each is the Way
Every One brings experience to All
My Path I Walk because it is mine
You must value your own
Without you - who will Walk it ?
No matter how far along the Way
Each One brings needed experience to All
Be All that you Are

Just how many people /humans/entities/ actually Believe they have a path of their own? They/We/I ALL have a unique Souls journey unlike any other person ever-through millions of incarnations, star systems, light bodies and sentient forms.
Throughout recorded time and Akashic time--our journey's are written--our own intuitions, meditations and contact with Higher Consciousness--gives us glimpses into our Soul--therein lies the answers....therein-lies the path--there-in lies the conscious choices...therein lies the uniqueness...therein lies Peace and Release from Karmic cycles..
Sharing our own unique Beauty
Sharing One truth--All is One!
We wear the Bear Claw in which to shred those illusions..we look to the Buffalo to hold the Dream---the Eagle to give us in/outsight....the Badger to give us the tenacity to bear the pain and lies......
The Butterfly ceases to be a Butterfly if you hold its wings-so to, you cease to be Free if you believe-Believe you are enslaved and have No choices--of paths--only the one of illusion-of Maya-the System that Howls your Number and not your Name....

Remembrance
Stop-sit beside-lightly flowing sparkling stream
Close your eyes-take 3 deep breathes..3 deep breathes....
Remember
the circle of the sky
the blue dome that protects you and embraces you
the stars and the black raven
Remember
the eternal life of the Sun
beating, breathing upon the earth
apex of light through your moonstone on blue veins of your delicate hand
bring out life
cover the earth
Remember
Sacredness of ALL
streams, caves, rivers, oceans, beaches, meadows, glens, mountain valleys, cool breathless gardens, early morning wonderment, beating of humminbird wings, designs on a butterfly, dragons and fairies...
Remember
When you were young
curious, exploring small things, amazing, delight -no endings no beginnings-
Fantasies that came alive
First love -first loving- first being loved- first spell that manifested -first dew drop falling from a rose-first flush of your skin and the first tingling of the small hairs on the back of your neck....
Remember
the song of the Goddess-the nameless One-the Mother/Maiden/Crone
you heard and felt- moon bathing-naked-alone-undisturbed-with wand-thurible-wafting incense and lavender flowers..

Standing alone - no cares had I
Or did I just not care
Work to be done - Plenty there was
Being done ? watching the day go bye
Yet somehow within, things were changing
While I seemed like I was doing not a thing
Yet were things doing to me
And I was in the Change
Solitude, Blessed solitude
After a longer sojourn was here again
I stood alone watching
As if waiting for my change to come
Partaking ? - Aye
Working at it ? - at times
Yet always within - Knowing
It comes, It comes
And the it, is I
Coming more into Being
How can this be so ?
I do not really care to know
But onward becoming am I
Sometimea working hard
Others, hardly working at all
Things they still get done
Being True to Self - the Watchword
Defining all I do
And left undone ....
Ambitions, accomplishments - not really so important you see
Giving all of me to Be
I Am
Letting the rest
Take care of itself
Here in process land
Experiencing it all
Still through it all I Am
Here, still, I Be

There are not many truths, there is one truth, and that truth is Silence.
All truths come from Silence. All truths exist as Silence. All truths return
to Silence. So there is only one truth, and it is Silence. Silence is behind
every holy thought, behind every holy word, behind every holy act. All
holiness is Silent.
Enter Silence, and you will see the world that Spirit created. Enter Silence,
and you will see that you are that Spirit, the creator. Enter Silence, and you will see that you are that world, the created. Spirit, the world, and you are one and the same in Silence.
This is what all sages know and say: enter Silence, and leave yourself
behind in the rubble of thoughts, and time, and death. Enter Silence, and
become the creator and the created. Enter Silence, and life is suddenly
real—beautiful and perfect in each curve and angle.
This is called awakening, awakening into truth.

Beyond all choices, beyond all lessons, is the stillness mind chatter cannot invade. Being wholly inviolate, this stillness shines, breathing through all in a continuous knowing which none can escape. Whatever you think, whatever you feel, whatever you learn, whatever you do...cannot change what this coalescent permeant is within and all around you, for ultimately the eyes open to reveal it is what you are. As it emerges through the darkened fog that meets its shining head on, the fog swirls and its darkness glows a dance of dissipation that none but the soul can sing. And thus is joy forever reborn, confessing its joyousness where guilt had thought to attach to rocks along the sea bottom of fearful prayer for death. I am the light I see, the light I shine, the one I share, encountering the ages in each one's smile, glistening from each tear, reaching down into the earth to flow a steady cleansing and rise again as mirth beneath the rainbows of my life.

Wandering through the spiral;
Round and round we go,
lessons come and go.
Some learned,
Some need to repeat again,
And maybe again, and again.
Where are you going,
Calls another from the maze.
And who can really Know.
For this Is Now
And will not repeat
For Change walks ever with us.
Another questions -
Which is more important:
The Intent or the outcome ?
And yet the variables so many
No One can control
But the Intent Now - that is my own.
Another wants to Know
How came you to where you are ?
Why did you make the choices you made ?
Why have you become the you you are ?
And this is hard,
Because so much has moved us
In ways we may not have known
At the time we moved to what we thought was -
Only to find out that Change does indeed Walk with us
And we cannot live but we accept - Change.
Even those living the life driven,
Find that they must adjust.
And what might have been the choice at one time,
Becomes that which we chose not at another.
And so we turn to look at our Intent -
And therein can find the ground not quite so shifty.
And through the byways we have travailed
We find that who we Are
Is also who we have been;
Through it all
Change was with us there as well.
And who we might become is nebulous,
Though some may find a touchstone True
In the Intent they weave throughout their lives.
So As I look to my self
I find I will not judge,
And try not to be swayed by those of others
Nor will I judge the Truth of another
For it Is theirs -
Not Mine.
And I find that what Is mine
Is more than enough
To keep me busy for a long, long, long time.
Looking forward to revisit this thing we call Life
For herein we walk with Change
And can Grow and Become yet More.
And so sometimes I find my hand held out -
To walk with my friends
As we Walk with Change,
And learn and Grow,
And Come Home to that Being Shining bright and True -
To find out t'was me and t'was you.
And even as we look
We See Change too Is here - how can this Be
Aye even in this ......
We find Change ever was our constant companion
And all we can do
Is try to be true to that Self
Which we caught that breathtaking glimpse of -
For We Are -
And Come to Be yet more.
Come join us in the Walk Beyond -
But beware - Be Aware,
And remember that Change
Ever Walks by your side
And nary a moment of this eternity passes
When Change will not Be.
For this is what happens if we are to Grow.
So why this note and who is it to ?
Just letting you know, that though I care,
Each moment will be a new one for each of us,
And to try to hold back Change
Is to choose not to Be.
For we come here to Grow
And Become yet More
Move into the Beyond ......
And where that may take us
We cannot Know
For this has not yet come to Be.
And we by our changes create it anew
With every breath -
Every thought
A new world we create.
And though we may walk
Hand in hand for a time,
Each choice may take us somewhere new.
And places so deep and strange
That others may eschew
And choose another Way to Go
What may be for me, may not be for you.
And this my friend is what it is about
Each learning and Growing
And bringing more to the pot;
So experiences harvested
Learn us -
And we them.
And Change we find,
When we dare to look;
Wears the face of you and me.
Blessed Be

When the time circles round
And comes to bite you on your ass
You know that what you have not done
May never get to Be.
Change the ever constant
Sometimes stops the clock
But seldom resets
When you by your actions - or lack thereof
Show that the lessons you will focus on
Be not those which this short timer agreed to learn.
Lessons - ahh - sweet lessons
But they tend to demand
When we refuse to pay attention
And can even make true
that old shoe we all too often put on -
No pain - no gain
But what a joy learning can be
Be Still and Listen
And Pay Attention and Do
The Way is simple you See,
But oft we make it so complex
But another excuse not to do........
But what is ours to do
comes back again and again
Till the kick, your attention does earn
Or sometimes, O so sad, the clock gets stopped
And round and round we go
To the next clean slate
And these lessons come round again
In maybe not so pleasant a guise;
For what is not learned
Will always a weakness stay,
Till finally we make of it a strength
Through the learning of the lessons contained therein.
So often those places we wish to Be
Need from us those lessons learned
Before to fullnes can we come,
And Be all that we might wish to Be.
Will you Hear ?
Blessings along the Way !

Just be Yourself
Be strong enough to face the world each day.
Be weak enough to know you cannot do everything.
Be generous to those who need your help.
Be frugal with what you need yourself.
Be wise enough to know that you do not know everything.
Be foolish enough to believe in miracles.
Be willing to share your joys.
Be willing to share the sorrows of others.
Be a leader when you see a path others have missed.
Be a follower when you are shrouded in the midst of uncertainty.
Be the first to congratulate an opponent who succeeds.
Be the last to criticize a colleague who fails.
Be sure where your next step will fall, so that you will not stumble.
Be sure of your final destination, in case you are going the wrong way.
Be loving to those who love you.
Be loving to those who do not love you, and they may change.
Above all, be yourself!

Meditation is not Concentration
by Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh
Meditations can be wrong. For example, any meditation that leads you deep into concentration is wrong. You will become more and more closed rather than becoming open. If you narrow down your consciousness, concentrate on something, and you exclude the whole of existence and become one-pointed, it will create more and more tension in you. Hence the word "attention". It means "at-tension."
Concentration, the very sound of the word, gives you a feeling of tenseness..
Concentration has its uses but it is not meditation.
It is the simplest art in the world, to be silent. It is not a doing, it is a non-doing. How can it be difficult.
I am showing you the way of enlightenment through laziness! Nothing has to be done to attain it, because it is your nature. You have already got it. You are just so busy with outer business that you cannot see your own nature.
Deep within you is exactly the same as outside you: the beauty, the silence, the ecstasy, the blissfulness. But please, sometimes to be kind to yourself: just sit down and don't do anything, either physically or mentally.
Relax, not in an American way.... because I have seen so many American books titled "How To Relax". The very title says that the man knows nothing about relaxation. There is no "how".
Just be, and watch . Being is not doing, and watching is also not doing. You sit silently doing nothing, witnessing whatsoever is happening. Thoughts will be moving in your mind; your body may be feeling some tension somewhere, you may have a migraine. Just be a witness. Don't be identified with it. Watch, be a watcher on the hills, and everything else is happening in the valley. It is a knack, not an art.

The Soul of Rumi
by Judie Najarian
http://www.boomercafe.com/barks/barks4.jpg
“These poems need to be released from their cages.” That is what American poet Robert Bly told University of Georgia professor and poet Coleman Barks in 1976, when he handed him translations of the Sufi poet and mystic, Jalaluddin Rumi.
And so began a friendship, carried on through a deep and continuing conversation between these two poets: one a contemporary American, the other a Persian, born in the country now known as Afghanistan in the 13th Century. Professor Barks freed these ancient poems from their confines with intuitive, clarifying understanding, and with the unspoken intimacy that only true friends encounter.
Barks tells us that Rumi understood the nature of our human longings -- each torment, each delight. He understood loss and love and the powerful effect that each brings to bear on our lives. You can feel his words now, as he tells us there is ...
Some Kiss We Want
There is some kiss we want with
our whole lives, the touch of
spirit on the body. Seawater
begs the pearl to break its shell.
And the lily, how passionately
it needs some wild darling! At
night, I open the window and ask
the moon to come and press its
face against mine. Breathe into
me. Close the language-door and
open the love-window. The moon
won’t use the door, only the window.
The poems can touch our spirit and yet, Barks says, “Rumi’s poetry is God’s funny family talking on a big open radio line.” Rumi does have a wonderful sense of humor though, on a deeper, more spiritual level. His poems speak to the heart and mind of the common man and the common woman and of everyday living. They tell of his wisdom and passion, his understanding of the mystery of life and the never-ending search for the Divine.
http://www.boomercafe.com/barks/coleman3.jpg
Coleman Barks hears Rumi. One can almost imagine two young boys plugged into one another with a couple of imaginary paper cups connected by a string. Their communication seems almost telepathic, though centuries apart.
In freeing Rumi’s poetry, Barks gives readers in search of enlightenment a source that is both honest and unabashed about what it means to be mortal. Touching on many themes, Barks’ book “The Soul of Rumi,” is a collection of these long ago discovered truths. Some of the poems convey a raw reality, the sufferings of mankind. The real life, everyday experiences and yearnings of Rumi’s contemporaries from the 13th Century read the same way today, over 800 years later!
Barks himself is a study in contrast to what we would imagine of his old Persian friend. Barks’ southern Georgia drawl is unexpected when he reads for an audience, yet there is something of the foreign mystic about him as well. His eyes twinkle, as if his mind is on a dual track, one performing and the other remembering something funny said by his friend.
In honor of an old green shawl given to Rumi by his best friend, Shams of Tabriz, Barks also wears a green shawl when he reads for a gathering. It covers his rumpled exterior; the professor is a tall man who dresses casually and looks something like an unmade bed. Barks’ ”bed-self” is one where you know you could rest awhile and learn about life as Barks, the storyteller, like Sherazade, reveals a new story each night, until the stories morph into the dreams of one adrift in the pure pleasure of sleep.
But Rumi says, stay awake:
Stay together, friends
Don’t scatter and sleep
Our friendship is made
of being awake.
An energy flows from the communion of these two poets. Alert, aware, awake energy. If a question is asked, Rumi always has an answer, a prescription for living that tends the soul. Between Rumi, the doctor and teacher, and Barks, the interpreter, a taste of their combined wisdom brings a hunger for more. The poems heal emotional wounds and mend life force, drawing the reader into new realms of awareness and thought.
Barks has done more than just listen to his ancient friend; he has shown us how to listen as well, to help us fly from our contemporary cages. Whether speaking poetically of daily living or living life at a highly esoteric, spiritual level, he shares his own personal journey through the landscape of existence, stopping here and there to revel in what has been called “the truly divine madness.” And yes, there is a madness to life … Rumi appreciated the nuances, the complexities, the comedies and complaints. Almost a millennium ago, he was wise and intuitive and funny and oh, so human. Today, Barks has taught us through Rumi how to listen to these melodies underneath the words, the essence of thought conveyed in each poem, while Rumi’s abundant cornucopia for living brings contentment, and a peek into the Divine.
Hear these words now, as Barks speaks for his old friend …
Begin
This is now. Now is. Don’t
postpone til then. Spend
the spark of iron on stone.
Sit at the head of the table;
dip your spoon in the bowl.
Seat yourself next to your joy
and have your awakened soul
pour wine. Branches in the
spring wind, easy dance of
jasmine and cypress. Cloth
for green robes has been cut
from pure absence. You’re
the tailor, settled among his
shop goods, quietly sewing."
