One Rainbow Dream

last night :

i am at the end of my world
and the mama ocean wave
washes over my body upon
the rocks yet does not carry
me away .

then come the boats .
a processional . from out of
the river into the bay and
past where i now stand
just the other side of the
rock point .

in the first boat is the Great Bear ,
thrice the size of griz , and oddly
too , bear skins stacked . Great
Bear faces undoubtfully to the
wild sea ahead .

next , the hero warriors .
sisters and brothers , tall
like heros
beautiful
as in mythic
of a calm joy , facing
undoubtedly to the wild
sea ahead .

the third boat picks me up .
oh , it is explained , this family
is moving to a new home . migrating .
a three week voyage and ya it's going
to be hard , slow boats going up the
coastline hauling everything and anybody
who wants to go .

there is the kindly master of the voyage
with rainbow eyes
and a young woman who rolls
for me in sharing .
