View Full Version : cult of osiris
the osiris cult has to be the greatest cult ever - it lasted for thousands of years in egypt- the kings of egypt were associated with osiris in death -as osiris rose from the dead they would in union with him, they would inherit eternal life -the myth of osiris is about the 2nd coming of christ - osiris gets reincarnated and loses his identity so set kills osiris with sin(set is lucifer)- after some time set awakens to his true idenity, quits sinning and becomes horus(horus is the 2nd coming of christ)- amun ra ptah is the oldest trinity of egypt and all other trinitys are related - amun is the hidden aspect of god=the father , ra is jesus christ ,ptah is horus who is the reincarnation of ra and creator of the universe-on back of the us dollar bill you have the eye in the pyramid - in ancient egypt the eye in the capstone of the pyramid was the eye of horus - right eye is ra and horus is the left eye -this myth of osiris is a curret event - back from the future - hetep

osiris gets reincarnated and loses his identity so set kills osiris with sin(set is lucifer)- after some time set awakens to his true idenity, quits sinning and becomes horusI think your mythology is a bit garbled. Set killed Osiris. Isis reanimated Osiris, became pregnat by him, and conceived Horus. Osiris went to the realm of the dead to become its lord. Set remained a separate deity and enemy of Horus, his nephew. Unlike Jesus, Osiris never returned to earth but stayed dead. Was that "resurrection"?
listen dude ive studyed the egyptian religion for 10 years and its my religion - heru-set = heru and set are depicted as two aspects of the same personality. much like the chinese tao philosophy.like yin and yang -the teachings of heru-set shows that good and evil are aspects of the same personality and they are inseparable and nessessary for the evolution of creation and human development.that struggle in the personality is to recognise the two caracteristics and then control these by mastering their principles. pictures of heru-set were shown as one body with two heads- one horus and one set head on one body -this is the main message of the story - Ra and horus pictures are exactly alike showing they are one - man dont get me started - you fools who know nothing about what your talking about - hetep

By the way, Ra and Horus did merge in Egyptian mythology, but I though you said Set became Horus. That would contradict the dualism you're talikng about.

true, christianity actually borrowed elements from a lot of pagan beliefs including this one...And vice versa.
heru (horus) is the god of light - before horus is victorious,he is a symbol of the dual nature of humankind.horus in this aspect represents the oppisite forces that are within each of us,the animal nature and the divine.therefore, the real battle is within each of us and not in the outer world of time and space - hetep
ive studyed the ancient egyptian religion under muata ashby - he has over 30 books out on the egyptian religion - you can find them at amazon - the ptah theology is from the shabaka stone- now kept in the british museum
horus is the savior who was brought to birth,as light in heaven and sustenance on earth-horus in spirit, verily divine, who came to turn the water into wine-horus who gave his life, and sowed the seed for men to make the bread of life indeed-horus the comforter, who did desend in heavenly fashion as the heavenly friend-horus,the word, the founder in youth, horus, the fulfiller of the word made truth-horus ,the lord and leader in the fight against the dark powers of the night-horus the sufferer ,with cross bowed down, who rose at easter with his double crown-horus the pioneer, who paved the way of resurrection to the eternal day-horus triumphant with the battle done, lord of two worlds united made one_ hetep
in the ancient egyptian hymns of amun, verse 32 states that- all the gods are three, amun,ra and ptah, and there are none other like unto them- he whose name is hidden is amun,ra belongeth to him as his face, and the body is ptah- "i became from god one gods three"

There are also differences. Osiris never returned from the land of the dead. And etyomologically, the similarity between the names Set and Satan may be coincidental. Satan comes from the Hebrew Ha-Satan, or "The Adversary".in some of the myths about osiris, resurrection wasn't mentioned, but in others he was clearly resurrected to life.
sure there are differences. and the similarity between the names set and Satan are probably coincidental.
but there a lot of other striking simalarities, wich cannot be simply eplained as coincidental.

And vice versa.
is that so? so, certain non pagan beliefs actually borrowed stuff from christianity? could you give me some examples?
glory be to osiris un-nefer,the great god within abydos, king of eternity, lord of the everlasting, who passeth thru millions of years in his existence-eldest son of the womb of nut,by seb, lord of the crowns of the north and south, lord of the lofty white crown-as prince of gods and of men he hath received the crook and the flail and the dignity of his divine fathers-let thy heart which is in the mountain of amenta be content, for thy son horus is established upon the throne- thou art crowned lord of tattu and ruler in abtu-through thee the world waxeth green in triumph before the might of nebertcher-he leadeth in his train that is and that which is not yet,in his name ta-her-seta-nef- he toweth along the earth in triumph in his name seker-he is exceeding mighty and most terrible in his name osiris-he endurenth forever and forever in his name un-nefer-homage to thee, king of kings, lord of lords, prince of princes, who from the womb of nut hast possessed the world and hast rulled all lands and akert-thy body is of gold, thy head is of azure, the emerald light encircleth thee-o an of millions of years, all pervading with thy body and in beautiful in countenance in ta-sert - hetep
horus brings set to you,he has given him to you,and he has bowed down under you for your strength is greater than his-horus has made it possible for you to enclose for yourself all the gods within your embrace for horus has loved his father in you, being alive as a living beetle, that you may be permanent in mendes- isis and nemphthys have waited for you in asyut because their lord is in you in your name lord of asyut-because their god is in you in your name of canal of the god-they worship you do not be far from them-isis comes to you rejoicing through love to you-your seed issues into her-she being ready as sothis-you have power through him in his name of spirit who is in the dndrw-bark -horus has protected you in his name of horus the son who protects his father
horus is the rebirth of the spirit of the divine, the supreme being manifesting as the son of osiris and isis-this rebirth is not a physical birth from the womb, but a rebirth of the mind-like horus regaining the throne of upper and lower egypt - in doing so he has regained mastership of the higher and the lower states of conciousness ------------------------ osiris is the moongod allah

1 )the neter ,the supreme being,is one and alone and as nebertcher, manifesting everywhere and in all things in the form of gods and goddessess(2) lack of righteousness brings fetters to the personality and these fetters cause ignorance of the divine (3)devotion to the divine leads to freedom from the fetters of set (4)the practice of the shedy disciplines leads to knowing oneself and the divine-this is called being true of speech-great awakening occurs when all the great truths have been realised by perfection of the shedy disciplines to realise their true nature and actually experience oneness with the transcendental supreme being - nebertcher means all encompassing divinity, the all inclusive, all embracing spirit which prevades all and who is the ultimate essence of all!= from nebertcher comes amun re ptah
christian theology holds the belief of original sin-it is said to be the condition of every human being which resulted from the fall of eve and adam who were the first human beings created by god-however,the term original sin is not found in the bible-it is a concept which early christian theologians developed to explain the need for redemption and salvation by christ-they cite specific texts as implying oringinal sin-these inculde romans 7:1 john 5:19, and luke 11:13- because of this first sin by adam and eve,all humanity is said to have lost the grace of god-under this view it has been understood that the sin of adam and eve is endlessly transmited to all human beings-in a sense this notion of original sin is correct, but not in the sense that the masses of christian followers have come to understand-people have been guilty of committing the sin of eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil from the begining of time, that is losing their sense of oneness with all creation, but they have done so on their own and not as a form of evil inheritance from adam and eve-human beings have tasted of the knowledge of duality and egoism, and these kind of people separated from their knowledge of the higher self-in this respect the people are comittting the sin of ignorance and egoism-the soul came to believe that it was seperate and individual, that it is not connected to god,and therefore, sin and its ramifications arise-sin is the feeling of separation from god as well as the acts that arise out of this state of ignorance-in a broad context sin is anything that takes a person away from discovering their true self or knowledge of the truth-the devil in later and christian and hebew belief is equated with "the supreme spirit of evil",who for all time has been ruling over a kingdom of all evil spirits, and is in constant oppistion to god-the word devil is derived from the latin diabolus, and from the greek diablos, which is an adjective that means slanderous-it is also used in ancient greek as a noun to identify a specfic person as being a slanderer-the term "diabolos" was used for the septuagint or greek translation of the jewish bible, not refering to human beings, but in order to translate the hebrew word ha-satan (the satan),an expression which was originally used as one of the members of the divine court whose function was to act like a roving spy for god-satan gathered intelligence about human beings during his travels on earth-thus originally ,satan meant "an opponet and not a particular being with actual existence-at around the 6th century b.c.e.,satan appears in the old testament as an individual angel that is subordinate to god-gradually as jewish and christian tradition developed around this idea, satan became known as the personality who was the source of all evil, and was responsible for leading human beings into sin-this caracter was most likely influenced by the ancient egyptian god, set, who killed his own brother-however,even set was never seen as the "source of evil itself" until the late dynastic period, which was when the jewish people were living in egypt-this notion of a person who causes evil in human beings is extremely dangerous because it allows people with poor moral development to shirk responsibility for their actions-in later jewish tradition ,and therefore also in christian thought, this title became a proper name-satan was then seen as personified adversary not only to humans beings, but also primarily of god-the development of the devil as the personified evil adversary probibly arose from the early jewish and christian assotiation with dualistic theologys of persia as well as the dualistic philosophy of zoroaster and the misunderstanding of the egyptian caracter set-in some segments of jewish theology, the idea of satan developed as an evil impulse-human beings are seen as susceptible to a force, which is outside of,and separate from them-therefore,with this view it is possible for a human being to become possessed by the evil force and coerced into wrongdoing-jesus was seen as the savior who broke the power of the devil over human beings-this view is dangerous because it negates the power of the human mind to control itself, the power of free will-it also opens the door to superstion and imagination about supernatural beings, which are in reality symbols mistaken as real beings that exist in fact-if satan were the true adversary of god, this would mean that god is not omnipotent because there is a being who can limit his power-so the teaching of satan must be correctly understood in order to aviod error and misunderstanding in ones spiritual movement

1)ptah conceived in his heart (reasoning consciousness-mind) all that would exist and at his utterance (the word- will, power to make manifest),created nun,the primeval waters (unformed matter-energy).
2)then not having a place to sit ptah causes nun to emerge from the primeval waters as the primeval hill so that he may have a place to sit.atom then emerges and sits upon ptah.then came out of the waters four pairs of gods and goddesses, the ogdoad (eight gods)
3)nun (primeval waters) and nunet (heaven)
4)huh (boundlessness) and huhet (that which has boundaries)
5)kuk (darkness) and kuket (light)
6)amon (the hidden) and amonet (that which is manifest)
7)the neteru(nun, nunet, huh, huhet, kuk, kuket, amon, amonet) are the lips and teeth of (gods) mouth which speaks the names of all things which come into existense.
8)the heart and tongue have power over all the limbs.god is found as the heart within all bodies, and in the mouth of each neter and all humans as the tongue (will),of all things that live...it is god who thinks (as the heart) and comands (as the tongue).
9)that which the nose breathes, the eyes see,the ears hear;all of these(senses) are comunicated to the heart. it is the heart (mind) which makes all knowledge and awareness manifest.and then the tongue is what repeats what the heart has thought.
10)all divine utterances manifested themselves through the thoughts of the heart and the commandments of the tongue.
11)justice is done to they who do what is loved, punishment to they who do what is hated.life is given to they who are peacefull, death is given to the criminal.
12)in truth god (ptah) caused the neteru to be born, the creation of the cities, establishment of the nomes, the establishment of the neteru in their places of adoration.god made their likenesses according to their desire.thereby, the neteru intered into their bodies, the variety of wood, all types of mineral, clay, and all things that grow from these and in which they have taken place, foods, provisions, and all good things ...he (ptah) is heru (horus)
13)thus is it to be understood that ptah is the mightest of all divinities.
there is a very ancient philosophy from which the theology of the gods heru and ra and goddess net arises.in pre-dynastic times (before 5,500 b.c.e.),egyptian doctrine held that there is a realm of light (beyond our physical universe) where food, clothing and our bodies are of light, and further, that we will exist for all eternity as beings of light along with other beings of light.this realm of light may be likened to the modern esoteric notion of an astrial plane of existance.the physical realm (earth) is a reflection or shadow of this astrial reality.
in dynastic times, the doctrine of the realm of light and of a single god of whom creation is composed survived in the earliest texts.in chapter 64 of the egyptian book of coming forth by day (prt m hru),god is refered to as "the one who sees by his own light" and "atum in the western horizon and heru in the east".hence "lord of two faces",who is in reality only one,is similar to the chinese tao philosophy with the singularity which is composed of two opposite but complementary forces.
the story related in the ancient egyptian papyrus of nesi amsu is that the primeval god laid an egg in the primeval formless waters from which the god himself emerged.this primordial god who emerged out of the waters created or emanated ra-tem-nefertum,the sun or life force, dejhuti the carrier of divine word or creative medium, and maat, the principle of cosmic order and regularity.the underlying emphasis was on the fact that all of these, including human beings and the phenomenal world, are in reality emanations from that same prmeval ocean.this means that there is one primordial essence for all things,be they plants, humans, gods and goddesses.
so in ancient egypt the god ra,the "great cackler" emerges from the egg.ra is the "golden sun" who creates the world as khepri, the creator.
from the ancient hymns of amun:
1)he is self-created and as he fashioned himself, none knows his forms.
2)he became in primeval time;no other being existed:there was no other god with him to declare his form, all the gods came into being after him.
3)he had no mother by whom his name was made.he had no father who begat him, saying,"it is even myself".he shaped his own egg.he mingled his seed with his body to make his egg to come into being within himself.his unity is absolute.amun is one - one.
in mystical philosophy god is the self.the self is a self-existent being which transcends concepts of creation and created.the self emerged out of the self and what emerged is none other than the self.creation and the self are one and the same.god is the undivided principle that assumes the names and forms which human beings call objects and the varied life forms which are in existence.

there are a lot of similarities between the cult of of osiris and christianity. in fact, i think Christianity adopted these elements from the cult of osiris, even though they won't dare to admit it. instead of that, Christians explain the similarities as the work of satan (set-an...lol)
Christianity "stole" or "borrowed" if you will so much shit from various "cults" throughout their existence. Mainly the following though: Dionysos, Isis, Orphism, Osiris, Attis, Mithras, and Eleusis (Hope I spelled those right).
Have any of you ever heard of the vegetation theory? Many of the cults Gods were based off the agricultural cycle, aka the death and rebirth of plants. Many pagan gods were known for their occurrence of having risen from death. Some of them were even on the third day as well. The key difference however is that none of those gods were reported to have returned to earth, they simply beat death if you will.
The Greko-Roman religions had a major impact on Christianity, and it just so happens that Egypt, the Levant and Persia were all absorbed into this "empire," along with their ideals and culture.
Mysteries were common amongst most if not all of these cults, just as they/it is present in Christianity. For example the mysteries of Dionyosis and Isis. Usually one individual would be initiated into the mysteries of the set deity. Each cult clearly varied in their "rite," however in most cases "it" took place in a group and was conducted by a priest or priests. During this rite things would be exposed (shown), heard, and staged. It was suppose to give the initiate an experience of what true reality is.
A similar concept in Christianity is Baptism. This rite is suppose to link the initiate with Jesus Christ and all his experiences. And as we all know as Jesus is God and vise-versa also linking the individual to the father and the holy spirit. Basically the Christian equivalent of the reception of insight and experience of the given god. In both there is also the ideal of a new and transformed life and a "resurrection" if you will to a new one in which happiness is now attainable. The baptismal rite supposidly lays out God's role in the universe, just as the pagan initiate would receive insight as to their deities god's role.
I could go on all day on this subject, but I suppose it's best I do not...after all I'd rather hear what you guys have to say.
the word christ is not a name but a title, like vice-president is a title.christ means: he or she whose head is anointed with oil or the anointed one.horushood or christhood refers to certain qualities exhibited by mythological or historical personalities as symbols representing the potential state of enlightenment of every sentient being in the universe.
christs are those persons who have attained complete purification of their psychological personality.they experience cosmic consciousness, the experience of being one with everything.this is a state of supreme bliss that comes from becoming one with ones essential nature:GOD.this is a state which cannot be achieved through the earthly pleasures or relationships.as explained in the egyptian book of coming forth by day, those who live in virtue (maat) with a pure heart will know all there is to know and be all there is to be;through their horushood (attaining the qualitys of horus which are:truth, righteousness and justice, inner vision-the eye of horus),they will have defeated the enemies of osiris (greed, ignorance, impiety, egoism) as personified by set,the evil one.
so salvation comes from attaining horushood, that is,becoming horus through a life of virtue, wisdom, courage and self-knowledge.those who become a horus, christ or buddha have attained the consciousness that survives death and will live on after their death of the body, being free from ignorance which leads to reincarnation.
so there is no one christ.everyone can potentially become a christ if they follow the path of masters such as horus, jesus, buddha, lao tzu, etc. or the path laid out by modern day masters.
when cosmic consciousness is attained,an annointing occurs with an etheric oil, secreted from the energy centers into the brain and bodys circulatory system including the heart.the body and mind are transcended and one experiences a higher level of existence beyond the joys and sorrows of the world.christhood means to attain the beatific vision of oneself as GOD.one becomes consciously established in the realization that one is GOD; this is in contrast to the masses of people who are aware only that they are a perishable body of flesh and bones.
"nebertcher saith,i am the creator of what hath come into being, and i myself came into being under the form of the god khepera, and i came into being in primeval time.i had union with my hand, and i embraced my shadow in a love embrace;i poured seed into my own mouth, and sent forth from myself issue in the form of the gods shu and tefnut.i came into being in the form of khepera, and i was the creator of what came into being,i formed myself out of the primeval matter.my name is ausares (osiris).
i was alone, for the gods and goddesses were not yet born, and i had emitted from myself neither shu or tefnut.i brought into my own mouth, hekau, and i forthwith came into being under the form of things which were created under the form of khepera.
