Actually I don't, in general, have a problem with American bases here, beyond my ongoing objection to British and American involvement in Iraq and the role said bases play in it. However to talk of freedoms in the way that you do somehow seems a little blinkered in light of the overall impact of American foreign policy in the modern world. I certainly don't hate a whole people for their government. However I do question anyone who holds an abstract notion of freedom to be that government's net impact on the world....

Where were you Yanks, when we needed you the most? Anyway, There is no such thing as an American.
