Hey everyone! I just filled out my application for ASU last night, and I do believe I'll be able to get in. I'm doing a transfer, and by the time I'm done with this year, I should have something like a 3.4 GPA or something close to that (It's 2.5 required to get in). Anyways, I'll be going to the Tempe campus.

I'm coming all the way from Northern MN. And the extreme cold yesterday made me realize how I really want to get out of here.

I know it'll be tough to be on my own, away from all my family and friends, since I'm very close with my family...but I feel if I don't get out now, I never will. I'm 19 now, and I think I need to get out on my own.

Anyways, what I want to know: How are things down there? I'm planning on living down there year-round, even when school isn't in session. I want to become a resident so tuition is a lot cheaper.

What is there to do down there? I heard ASU is a party school, which would be fine once and a while, but I like to be on my own and play some guitar as well.

Is it easy to meet new people? I can be pretty outgoing if I am in the right crowd, but I hope I can meet people down there!

And how is the job market down there? What's the average wage someone my age can expect to get down there? Any tool places down there (Harbor Freight, Home Depot, etc) since I've been working at a Northern Tool for a long time now, and that's kinda what I like working around.

Answers would be appreciated! =)

ASU just seems like more of a place for a person like me. My mom really doesn't want me to go, it seems too far away to her. Well, which it is, but that's kind of the point. I want the different experience in life while I'm young. Might as well start that in my sophomore year in college.

Im in Tempe lived here for about 20 months. I dont go to ASU, but from what Ive heard it is indeed a party school and theres lots and lots of hot chics here. As far as jobs go, look on craiglist. There are many Harbor freight tool locations here. I go to the one on McClintock and Warner often and theres always a help wanted sign in the front window.

I kind of changed my mind. I got a $500 grant from ASU, but I don't think I'm going to be using it. It's way too expensive to go there. I wouldn't be able to survive alone down there. As well as, I'd be in total debt after I got outta school. About $30,000 in total costs a year for outta state.

Tooooooo much for me.
