I couldn't find a good forum to put this in, so I'm putting it here. A divination forum would be good. If the mods feel the need to move this, please do.

Anyway, could someone knowledgeable on the I Ching explain it to me in all its details. I'm prepared to make this a long thread if it has to be - with a whole series of questions and answers.

I also want to know how Terrence McKenna derived his "map of time" from the I Ching.

Anyone out there who can help me? I greatly appreciate it.

I cant offer much advice as I've only begun getting into it myself. But I am also looking for insight :D

I too would like to know more about it, I've found it to be very, very accurate though.

I believe there are 6 lines, either broken or whole depending on if there is a majority of heads or tails that come up when 3 coins are thrown. There are 64 different combinations possible, hence 64 hexagrams. Here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Ching

Here's a link for the I Ching & Terrence McKenna: http://survive2012.com/why_2012_fractal.php

I think it helps to first read what other people have written about the I ching.
For example stuff written bu Jung (I dont know if you know him) or even just a google search. When I first opened the I ching, I didnt understand a word of it, until I had read an overview and simplified writings of what it is about.

Thanks hippie and ghost of rat. That survive 2012 website looks interesting. I'll print it out and read it later.

I've read a lot of stuff about the I Ching, but that was years ago and I forget most of it. Most of what I learnt was from McKenna. I downloaded a shit load of recordings and talks of his and listened to almost every one.

But I guess I'll start with those websites.

That's a big question. I doubt anyone could explain it in all its details. Even Confucius, who allegedly wrote the commentaries said he needed many more years of study to fully understand.

The only way to learn about the Ching is to use it, and it will probably take a few years before you'll begin to truly understand it.
