Anyone no of any good free mmorpg's Like wow.
I played Rappelz for a while. It's pretty good for being free, but a ton of it is grinding. I played 2Moons for a while. If I remember, that one was okay.

i'm always looking for the impossible: free to play, complete world with real infrastructure, not about having to go armed and like that. infinitely diverse to explore, and every player easily contributes to that diversity. that continuing to build an infinite universe world, rather then playing conflicts in it, is what its all about.
sl come close, but it would come a lot closer if it weren't based on capitolism and didn't require broadband, and you could make things off line to upload to it, like in blender or autocad or something (or bundled with its client preferably, even if it ment a huge client you had to down load a little bit at a time, with the first bit functional, but downloading more parts of it for more functions). and by things i don't mean things like super weapons or anything like that, which would just be inert bits of detailed sculpture if you could, but things like buildings and machinery and even nature like trees and creatures and stuff.

So you're looking for Spore then. :P Maybe they'll actually release it someday.

that would be an intensely huge program.that would be neat though to be able to manipulate anything in the game like it was a real world. you could walk around and make the game anything you wanted. you could make it a running from the police game or a sports game or a flying game or a drinking game or a druglord game or a cooking game or a family game or animals or computers or you could even play it like youre spying on someone.
but why would somone want to escape from the real world by creating an artificial world that is just like the real one? lol

they actually have a date now, sept 7 if i remember right. early september at any rate
means it might actually come out before 2009!

Yeah. It was supposed to be March but they bumped the date to Sept. All I can say is, for the wait and the amount of pushing back they've been doing since..well it seems like forever...it better be a glitch free and smooth game on Gold day (unlike most mmorpgs)

theres no real freedom, just a shepherd, sheep, and constantly punished goats.
in a game you can do what you like, its awesome. one day i hopes theres an ultimate virtual reality. say you pay 25'000$ to have a room fitted out completely, all you do is connect yourself to a server and your part of the virtual program, just like the matrix, ONLY you CANT DIE FOR REAL. and its completely perfect to how the artificiall reality is.
imagine, you come home tired and pissed off at work, you dont want to go out to the smog filled outside, and breather the at the time 50% of pollution in the air etc etc, you just hook in and spend the rest of your day happy as fuck doing w/e you like, and multiplayer mode also, aaah man that would rule, like sheep everywhere and theres you and 20 friends just fucking with the virtual world, all trying to buy nukes and destroy each other first, before loading the game back to the before nuke days. aaaah and there would be mods, to like a different univerese, life on mars etc.
shit imagine star wars kotor, yet not a game but a virtual reality, and much much bigger, every world is as big as earth, shit id quit my job, everything to play this forever :D

Problem is you can hardly get on if you dont have some kind of membership and a lot of people who play it speak different languages other than english, but its a great game, another good game is Thang online. (http://thang.ongameport.com/)

shit imagine star wars kotor, yet not a game but a virtual reality, and much much bigger, every world is as big as earth, shit id quit my job, everything to play this forever :Dwell i don't quite see how simming what's wrong with it deliberately is going to unsuck it. that's what i find inadiquite in the forced focus of rpgs as we know them today.
smart, tecnosavi, intellegent people, mostly deliberately living in small forest villages, connected by narrow gauge noncombustion propelled railways. i mean learning how to live with real nature and finding the gratifications of creating and exploring by and while doing so and finding ways people can do this. ways they can be happy with.
a world of realistic tomarows when the oil, coal and uranium are gone, or people are just no longer willing to do things on so austentatious a scale as is involved in extracting them, nor any longer able to survive without being more consciencous of their environment then most people are today.
that's the kind of things i'm interested in simming. not what boils down, however you dress it up, to glorifying armed robbery. to naming some race or life form or just otherness in general, monsterous to get away with it.
i mean that IS just all over again the same kind of way that IS screwing up and keeping screwed up the world we've got now. that idea that there has to be an us and them, and that by killing, maiming, robbing 'them' we're somehow doing something wonderful and good and heroic.
i mean its that kind of thing, that dominates rpg'ing, that's the whole problem with how people are looking at things that IS keeping everything screwed up.
so i'm looking for something that is genuinely completely different. and not implemented lamely to try and 'prove' that it only can be either.
i've really yet to find or see anything that comes all that close. all i'm seeing is this same romantacizing of what's screwed up, only dressed up in some fanatasy of some past era or parallel fantasy universe.
and don't try to tell my that's "human nature". human brainwashing maybe.

Summer of Solstice and Fiesta. Both are good visually and surprisingly demanding.
I have an up-to-date system and it gave it (sort of) a run for its money. With hundreds of character models displayed I did see framerate lag.
