I heared That you Can get High From bananas,i GOT this from Where but i Can't Remember.
Believe it or not, bananas do contain a small quantity of
_Musa Sapientum bananadine_, which is a mild, short-lasting
psychedelic. There are much easier ways of getting high, but
the great advantage to this method is that bananas are legal.
1) Obtain 15 lbs. of ripe yellow bananas.
2) Peel all 15 lbs. and eat the fruit. Save the peels.
3) With a sharp knife, scrape off the insides of the peels and
save the scraped material.
4) Put all of the scraped material in a large pot and add
water. Boil for three to four hours until it has attained a
solid paste consistency.
5) Spread this paste on cookie sheets, and dry in an over for
about 20 minutes to a half hour. This will result in a fine
black powder. Makes about one pound of bananadine powder.
Ususally one will feel the effects of bananadine after smoking
three or four cigarettes.

I think there should be something in the FAQs. Bananas do NOT contain any type of chemical that would induce a state of intoxication.
Period.
BTW the website you posted was meant as a joke. Really.

you're not going to get high off banannas. im pretty sure this started as a joke, and people took it seriously. but fuck.... if you really want to try it, go ahead, but i guarantee you'll be disapointed. i'll do anything to get fucked up, but youve got to have some common sense. why dont you smoke some weed or something?

well...
if you go to dr duke's plant chemistry site, you will see that there are some indolic compounds in bananas & plantains... (serotonin & tryptohane & such...)
so...
it is possible that with a good enough lab, one could isolate the alkaloids, & purify (via column chromatography?) the various trypt & somehow obtain a fraction which was mostly 5OH-DMT (which is bufotine) - which may be marginally psychedelic when smoked...
dopa in bananas & avacadoes
synepherine in orange peels
5htp in griffonia beans
5meo-dmt in canary grass
dmt in mimosas & acacias & rubiaceas & other plants
there's an article by smith listing various tryptamines to be found in plants (& fungi) species (maybe in lloydia or journal natural products, i forget...); & then there's jonathan ott & shulgin & kilgore trout & dennis mckenna & jace calloway & several others who have written extensively, hehhhe...

I always thought the getting high on bananas thing was a complete hoax, inspired by the "electrical banana" line in Donovan's "Mellow Yellow".

Aye, having ready much of edition 1 and half (because only half of the book is left due to a fire :(~ )of edition 38. I have seen that twice and though many things in TACB are far from correct most of it is right.
Just a note for all of you, I've heard from chemistry people, who explained why this worked but I dont remember, that I'f you take only a few banana peals like 2-4, and place a few sticks of ment gum in them and leave in a cold dark place for about a week that the gum will contain the alkaloids of the fruit.
Now by 'mint' I dont remember what mint it was, there are several popular flavors, spearmint, wintergreen and other such plants.
It was a trusted source but I simply held no interest in trying such an experiment.
