View Full Version : What You Can Do on the New Site...
First I'm going to ask you to post up recent news articles and reviews about cannabis. I've setup some categories, and if you find stories that don't fit any, let me know and I'll create new ones.
Everything you post should be original! If it's a news item, you only need to write a paragraph or two summarizing the article, including a link back to the source.
For reviews you can cut and paste FACTS like a business' address but not someone else's review. You can include any info that the business itself provides about the business or its products. A link to the business website is required, and you should probably check it out for more info and to verify info about it that you obtained elsewhere.
The best way to do this will be to visit other sites and find info there. Much of it will be basic info about a business. You don't need to even review it as others will who've had experience with it.
Some sites like Norml.org have lists we can use to post up basic info. All this info is in the public domain, but theoretically we should verify what we post with a second source. This way we can't be blamed or accused of copying everything from one place.
In the beginning I will vet all postings to ensure quality and give you feedback if there's a problem.
We have a video section, which is always fun! So you're welcome to post up cool videos you find on the net. It might take a little getting used to cause it's not the same system we have on the forums. If you have too many problems, I could just redirect people to the forum video section, so we'll see how it goes.
As far as when you can access the new site, it's going to be several more days as I try to get more features running correctly.
I don't want you to post up stuff, and then change my mind about where the videos are to be posted, for instance.
So I'm busy programming new features like the grow journals, and making key decisions about how the site should function. Once that is done, we can get on with it... :)
Thanks for your patience on this!
A question...
Are any of you a graphics wiz? I could probably use help with the site's design. The more time I waste on that, the longer it will be before the site is ready to go...

What types of articles to you need?
My strong point is in Organic weed growing. I have done it inside and outside.
I understand organic gardening thoroughly from natural fertilizers to pest control.
My weak area is Hydroponics. I have very limited experience with it.
My other areas of strength are in avoiding the law. I am an expert in this and I do have a law degree.
I just never practiced because growing and dealing made me more money than I needed. Then I went on to pursue other interests.
My experience with trafficking and smuggling will not be of much use on the new site because it is to hot of a topic. I assume there is going to be rules about that type of thing. So I can just keep that part of my life to myself.
I am not much of a graphic wiz. When I need that type of work done there are people I hire to do it cheap.
Also I am good at chilling people out, if that counts for anything.

I am no whiz but i can try. It really all depends on what you need.
A good portion of the site is devoted to the law and lawyers. So there should be something to interest you there, UA. If you'd like you can post up cannabis legal news, and even analysis if you're up to it.
We're also needing columnists so if you want to take on an issue, you can dissect it all you want in a column.
Writers can contribute on any cannabis related subject they choose. We have a list of topics and welcome news, analysis, commentary.
This is where this site could have a potential to excel. If we line up some good writers who focus on the issues at hand we could attract a lot of attention.
Just posting up news items on a regular basis will keep people coming back for more.
So your participation level is up to you. I make no demands, but I am expecting a certain level of quality, so that our visitors aren't disappointed and want to return again.

Well the problem with writing about law is it will have to be written in a very general way, as all states have their own specific laws.
If people get in trouble they need to have someone local that knows the laws in the area that they live.
I suppose you could also sell attorneys ad space though.

The biggest problem facing MJ users is not state or local law, but federal law. There are a large number of cases currently making their way thru the courts, each with a different angle or defense.
That's what I'm concerned about. And in other countries there usually is just one national law regarding cannabis use, like in the UK.
Yes, we will be selling ad space to a LOT of businesses (hopefully!).
I met with a guy yesterday who is selling ad space all over California (for Skunk Magazine). He may help us out with that!
I'm trying to be very LOW KEY about our intentions with this website so that others don't try to do the same before we get ours going.
Others have tried and failed to do what we're doing. That's because they didn't have enough ppl like YOU to help post more info over time.
So please don't SAY A WORD until we officially launch the site. I'm guessing about 10 days or so from now, if things go well and I don't get too distracted by other things. ;)

Okay, Federal law is easy.
What else do you need from us?
So the list of topics is under the MJ Guides section of the menu. We need each of you to add something to those. If everyone does a dozen entries each over the next week or so, that would help a lot!
You don't need to do a whole review unless you know the business. Otherwise you can just enter whatever info is available (business name, location, very brief description).
We are going to let these business post up a display ad and add more info, but they need to be entered first so we can get their attention.
So just enter any business you like. Full reviews are preferred of course. Once a business is entered, other ppl can post up comments about it.
I need to transfer the coffeeshop list from another website. So you don't need to enter any coffeeshops, unless they are outside Amsterdam. But hold off on that for a bit cause I still need to modify the coffeeshops for them to work right...
Ok, the Journals are pretty much ready. I still need to improve the search function, but you should be able to post stuff up there now. Please inform me of any problems you encounter.
If you are going to post up PRIVATE entries, please test it yourself (logout and see if you can still see 'em). We can't be responsible for anything you post privately that ends up being viewable by the public at this stage. There could be bugs allowing ppl to view it. But that's why I need you guys to check it all out before we go live!
Thanks!
Enjoy the journals. I may rename that section soon. :)

I would like to know the procedure for submitting articles.
You said in the beginning everything needs to be approved for quality.
Do I just submit them to the site and then you let me know if changes are necessary or do you want me to PM them to you for approval?
It seems simple enough to submit and article but I wanted to know how you want to go about starting this.
Just submit it, we'll do the rest. All submissions are reviewed before appearing on the site. Thanks.
