First thing we need to do is come up with a mission statement for the site.
Here is what I propose, you can criticise, add, or just comment as you choose. :)
I'm hoping this site will provide the widest range of information available on the Internet about cannabis. That means we will cover every aspect of the industry from the breeder to the consumer.
To help us with this enormous task, we expect our visitors to add to the information by commenting about, and rating products and businesses so others can benefit from their experiences.
(Of course you good ppl are going to help out by kick starting that process so there is a base of information already on the site when we open it to the public. Without something for the search engines to find, we won't get much traffic, except what the Hipforums can generate.)
One of the innovative features I hope to provide is a Grow Journal system like no other. If you look on the Web, you'll see that nearly every grow journal system is setup as a forum. This is a good, easy to manage system, but it lacks some logical features that would help growers. You're more than welcome to suggest more! This feature is currently under development, so talk fast! ;)
Another great feature of the new site are the various Guides to cannabis related businesses. Some sites have tried to implement a guide or two with limited success. We are going to have a dozen or so guides, each focused on a different segment of the Industry.
This will be a big draw for the grower, consumer and business entrepreneur. If we can be THE resource that people check first for product, business or medical mj information, we will have succeeded in our mission...
It's hoped that our focus on businesses and the consumer will be a happy marriage. We can provide a great feedback loop, just like Overgrow did, among the growers, the breeders and seed companies. But we will also include the end-consumer, too.
IMO, that was the secret to their success...and ours...
We're going to utilize the HipForums and HipGallery for this project, as they already have good traffic, and provide a convenient registration and admin system (the fewer I have to deal with, the better!).
However the new site is based on other software, and so many of its features will be disabled (so ppl don't have to register twice). I'm not sure yet how the Grow Journals logins will be managed (different software - a big headache).
Anyway those details are best discussed in another thread.
So whattaya think?
