http://www.onelittleangel.com/common/images/letter/T.gifhose who see all creatures within themselves
And themselves in all creatures know no fear.
Those who see all creatures in themselves
And themselves in all creatures know no grief.
How can the multiplicity of life
Delude the one who sees its unity?

quote(s) / poem(s) n° 4316: Upanishads [presentation] (http://www.onelittleangel.com/wisdom/quotes/upanishads.asp), Hinduism

Isha Upanishad 6-7

I think of this at times when I fear... I really feel that my absense of fear is because of this experience of oneness... The one protects those that see...

Once the condom broke with one of my ex girls, I was really upset and afraid she would get pregnant. For the first time in my life I started to pray to my gurus, like Neem Karoli Baba, Amma and so on, for protection... I had been reading about how gurus protect thier chelas and feel I needed it more then ever, before I had just assumed everything would be alright. Anyway I prayed and prayed and prayed for hours in my dorm room listening to Krishna Das's chanting music. Then tired I left my dorm room, still worried as ever, and went into the cafeteria. My buddhist friend came up to me and without saying hello, handed a card with three bodhisattvas on it... he then said "This will protect you for life" He was of course joking and had no idea of my situation or fervent prayer. The card was the symbol I needed of the ONE's protection of me, my body, my support network and so on... my worries disappeared and everything in my life has been working out just fine since.
I don't feel its the Bodhisattvas or some hindu gods, or gurus or any of that that really protects us on the path...

It is really the one, and seeing really does help us have no fear.

Thoughts on any of this are loved and appretiated!

"Everybody is the guru, when you know how to listen" - Ram Dass

It is true, everybody is a teacher, even Michael Bolton can bring you to the light. I must admit though, I strongly dislike his music.

I really do think Oneness is Real and True. :) There's just too many connections...the lines are invisible and connect us all with each other, with Reality...sometimes there is a break down of the barriers of time and space..when you're just sitting by the river and people pass you by and you feel peace within you and connected w/ everything... to me that is one of the strongest experiences of Oneness I've ever had. Also when I connect w/ people on really deeply spiritual levels even when we have opposing feelings of the nature of the Divine...we can always find one common ground in Love and Devotion and Light. Great topic...oneness...its really something to think about... :) Thanks GP for the late night opportunity for reflection. Good night everyone. :)

Dear Ganjaprince,
Every action has an equivalent result. You cannot run away from the result of your actions, what you can pray is for God to get rid of negative vasanas.

When God protects you from your own vasanas, you will live a happier , better and fearless life.

What would you have done if your dear lady had become pregnant?
Many people would rejoice and thank God -

Just goes to show how the very same situation can provoke very different reactions depending on individual circumstances.

As for protection - myself I feel that it is better to pray to some divine form.

The reason being that these forms all come from God, and are something like executive agents within the multiplicity of creation. Hence the old pagans as well as the Hindus have gods which are associated with different areas of life - Venus for love, Athene for wisdom etc. Even in Christianity, different saints are thought to have some influence in specific areas.

But if you are happier praying to the One, all well and good - different strokes for different folks.
