My best friend is sadly taking a downward spiral... Partially because of opiates (oxycontin to be more precise).
I see him being more angry, intolerable, ignorant, violent, etc. The wierdest thing is that he doesn't seem to get better when he's ON the opiates. He's just as bad when he's going through withdrawl.
He's doing somewhere around 2 or 3 80's a day which isn't THAT bad yet, but it's pretty bad. I'm just thinking of a way to tell him that I don't want to see him changing for the worse, without him getting pissed off and hating me for trying to split him with opiates.
I tried offering him clonazepam for his withdrawl symptoms and he actually freaked out on me saying that it wouldn't help and that I know nothing.
It's drawing a gap between us, and I want to close that gap and have my old friend back. What are some things I could say to help him realize what he's doing to himself?
Also, what are some options for helping him come off the opiates? I know he will not want to go to the doctor's or the clinic because he is afraid that somehow his family would find out. I figured clonazepam would help to reduce his anxiety, but he is REALLY against even TRYING it.
