if it was in the right situation i certainly would. i'd probably have to be hyped up on ecstasy or something to actually even approach him though. i'd also give him his own joint to smoke. i know it sounds kinda mean, but i just don't want to take chances with sharing a pipe. ever since i read something that hepatitis b or c or something is contagious if your sharing the same pipe, i have a tough time lending my pipe out to just anyone.

I met a vietnam vet on the bus once, he was reading all the quotes I had on my backpack. he wasnt homeless, and I never go to smoke with him anyway, but we had good conversation. he had to go to the VA hospital everyday for treatments and things. our fucked up government.

I don't think I've smoked with anyone that was really homeless. Just some kids who really have homes they just prefer to live on their friend's couch or on the street for the night. A few guys just came up to my porch one night when I lived in Northampton Ma. They smoked a blunt with me.

I did feed this one homeless guy once who was in love with me. From the moment he spotted me on the street I could not get rid of him! Everytime he saw me he followed me around. He wasn't crazy though like most of them. Just a heroin addict taking methadone. I took him up to my place once and fed him lunch, but then I made sure he knew that I was just being nice, and that I was not interested in him.

That's probably the end of my homeless people escapades. :)

Me too my friend. I was homeless between the ages of 15-18 and travelled pretty much half of the country by hitching and greyhounds when I could score enough money at the day-labours. I travelled around, slept in parks mostly, when the winter came I would spend the day labour money on hotels and get my way further south.
I have smoked with many homeless people, both with my own stuff and others. Whoever says no because homeless people dont work is just generalizing. I worked almost every day of my life when I was homeless and I only spanged twice in Chicago because it was snowing like mad and I had absolutley no where to go but the greyhound station on my way back to Philly, and my bus had a 13 hour delay.
If I could smoke, I would smoke with anyone who I deemed to be safe and kind, regardless of their current living situation. -

Ive smoked with this one old hippie. Im not sure if hes homeless, but im pretty sure he is. He just wears the same clothes everyday, and carries around a backpack with all of his shit. he uses the espresso steamer at the place a work as a kitchen and makes egg and shit on it since he dosent have a stove or anything. But he smoked me out with probually the best i have ever smoken. Deffently worth it.

Well it wasn't weed, but one time I rolled up some cigarettes for these two homeless guys in Boston. I must say, they were interesting chaps, worth listening to I'd say. Before I left, they said 'don't ever become an alcoholic' and then they proceeded to show me their U.S Navy tattoos on their forearms, which was kind of depressing. You here all the time how the Vietnam Vets became so fucked up after the war, but you don't actually see it very often. Also, they were basically covered in dried blood; on their hands, fists, around the mouth, etc. so I don't think I would have smoked them out if I had any bud, but I would consider it if the person wasn't caked in dried blood.

And the people talking about squatting earlier in the thread don't have a clue. I've lived in amazing, beautiful plush squats and I've lived in crap, rundown apartments I've paid for. It's all relative. Squatters are often politically motivated and if you can get away with living somewhere nice for a while, rent free and with legal protection (squatting is legal in the UK, as it's a civil matter and not a criminal one the police are actually on the side of the occupiers and not the owners so if you've changed the locks and the owners breaks in while you're inside he'll be arrested, not you) then why not? Especially if you have anarchistic tendancies.

One squat I lived in was open as a social centre and art gallery as well as a space for gigs, raves and parties. Beautiful old building 10 metres from the beach and the landlord had given permission to stay until he did something with it. Was occupied for 7 years until eviction last year. It's even listed in the 'Notable Squats' section of Wiki's article on squatting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squatting#Notable_and_well_known_squats) (in the UK section, Medina House) though it wasn't as notable as some of the London ones which aren't on there hehe... That was great, people from every corner of the planet, lots of musos and arty types -about 20 people living there when I was there 2/3 years back....

I sometimes do. One time I was waiting for a friend on Haight street with a joint when he called me and said he wouldn't be able to make it. I thought, what the hell, might as well go to hippie hill and light up. So I get there and as I'm sitting down, this grungy homeless dude walks up and starts a conversation. He's nice enough, and as he starts telling me about his experiences in vietnam I light up and offer some to him. So there we are, passing the j back and forth and he starts telling a story about being ambushed with his squad in the jungle. He starts screaming and gesturing theatrically to the trees around us, yelling "fuckin' gooks in the trees! cover! cover! shoot em down!" and as we're both getting more and more blazed (its was a fairly big joint, at least an eighth was rolled in it) he starts painting a vivid picture for me of watching some fellow soldiers getting wounded and him having to carry one of them away from the firefight into a clearing where he's seperated from his squad leader and he has to lie low in tall grass for a couple hours, frantically trying to stop his friends bleeding leg. Eventually they manage to sneak around the hidden group of VC fighters (who for some reason were staying put, though he told me that was unusual for them, being querilla fighters) and is luckily able to reconnect with a large portion of his squad and, after a bit more fighting, they break away from the ambushers who had surrounded them and manage to get back to their platoon, without any casualties. The whole time I see the entire story in perfect detail, all the while just sitting on hippie hill smoking a joint. That was probably one of the stoniest experiences I've ever had, all thanks to some random homeless vietnam vet.

For sure. I think that in general, the homeless are much more wise, more wholesome people. In general, of course. There's a lot of insane ones too. But nonetheless, I'd smoke with any of them. You don't get a disease from smoking a jay with a bum. As some other person above said, there will be a lot more of them in the coming years I predict. It might even be you. Sure i would. I have done many things with homeless people when i have money for a car and housing. The homeless at times have also helped me greatly in certain situations. Some people are crazy yes, but so many are just people who have done wrong in there life and they are now asking for change, paying a dear price. Some of the best life advice i have gotten was from someone living on the streets. It seems the average person is even scared to talk to them. Let alone walk up and start conversation.
