Would situation ethics work?

I've been studying Philosophy and Ethics and we've just come onto situation ethics. And as a theory, I really like it. It would be amazing to have a society where everything was judged on love alone. Of course the rest of the class just laughed about it being a hippie theory, but I truly think it could be something that could work, if only on a small scale. What do you think? It beats utilitarianism (Blee) anyway...

Ethics based on agape love will only work if the populations is small enough that everyone can benefit from ingroup bias, i.e. a family or small tribe. Just my two cents….

if you understand the true meaning of the word - LOVE... you dont need to understand the meaning of the word - ETHICS .... although knowing the meaning to both words would come in handy for sure.

someone who knows how to love themselves and all those around them will automatically have good ethics. being ethical comes naturally to those who know how to love.

The issue is that mankind is naturally not loving. Looking at history it is undeniable. But in theory if real love could be found by all for all complete in itself then this would work.
