my roomates and i are all going home for thanksgiving break. we may be gone 3-5 days. right now the plants are under the fluorescent lamps still, but in about three weeks they will be ready for the sodium light. So the plan was to put them under the sodium a couple days after we get back from the holiday. but do our plants need to be watered, but the problem is we cant really just have someone water them for us, and no one will be in town during those days we are gone. Is there anything i can do? am i fucked, do i need to find someone to water them or what? any suggestions?

I THING your plants will go just fine and okay without water for 3-5 days if you water them good and much before you go on your hollydays
but i do need some InFo on your grow space to tell you the real deal...
temperature day and night?
what type of soil do you juse and how much for each plant?
how big and tall are the plants?
do you have any humidity control in the grow room?
how offen do you normaly water and how much?
a pic would be nice;-)

wow to tell you the truth this is our first grow. This is the cheapest grow room you can get. it is in a small crawl space sort of thing. I do not know the temperature. the plants are in potting soil with miracle grow (we did not know it had miracle grow in it) and the plants were started at different times, some are clones, but 5 of them are all about the same size, and one of the clones took a long time to root so its still small.
they are maybe 17 inches tall or so for the most part, but we started with the light too high so the plants got very tall and the leaves started forming a few inches up the stalk instead of at the bottom. Except the afghany goo because we started the one outside a few weeks before the other plants. pretty bushy though beginning to really fill out.
no humidity control
we water maybe twice a day or so, whenever the soil seems dry. we water until it some begins to drain out the bottom of the containers.
maybe a pic in the future

okay i still think you can soak your plants with lots of water and then go on hollyday for 5 days....
but how much soil do each plant have?

let me tell you this
A plants roots need water to take up nutrients but it allso needs air so after you have waterted let the soil dry out so that the air is able to get to the roots.... this is known bye all growers:-)
you can soak your plants alot! as long you just let the soil dry out before you water next time...
if you over-water your plants "soak, soak and soak whit out letting the soil dry out" the roots will start to rot and die... this is a problem you can't fix dead roots!
if you under-water your plants "letting them dry out for to long" they will start to hang and the plant will look very dry... as long the leaves and stem has not died out the problem can be fixed bye increase frequency of watering
Allways better to under than over-water you see? ;-)
hopes this helps you more out!
