View Full Version : Now it's quicker to become a member & PMs disabled for Guests
We've changed the time it takes to become a full member of the forums. Before you needed to have 100 posts and 30 days on the site before your account would be upgraded. Now it's only 30 posts and 10 days before your account gets upgraded!
This should help out newbies with more features available at an earlier stage. It's nice not to have to wait so long to get them!
Enjoy! :)
This has been changed again. Now it's only 20 posts and 5 days on the site before a new member is upgraded from Guest to Member status. However we've disabled the PM system for those who are only Guests. This is to reduce PM spam and harrassment of our members.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience this causes. If you must contact a member you can post a message in any open forum until your Member status kicks in.
If you're in a big hurry, Site Supporters (http://www.hipforums.com/forums/donate.php) get immediate access to all features of the Hip Forums. So upgrade your account (http://www.hipforums.com/forums/donate.php) and you won't have to wait! :)
I remind everyone that these are public FORUMS, not a private messaging service. We expect our members to participate in the forums, if you don't you will never become a member and won't get all the features that members get.
Anyone posting up garbage just to get around this rule will be automatically banned from the forums.

*claps* Thank you so much for disabling PM's for guests! I am SO sick of getting weird messages from people with a post count of like 0 perving on me!

You call this annoying? It's a travesty, man!
Still, I know you guys are trying to make the forums more respectable and clean. I do appreciate that.
So I guess this will add to my post count. :D

It's not a bad idea, can't say I've had a problem with spam personally, but I haven't been here that long either :D

Generally good idea but when someone was already able to send/receive PMs it's annoying that he's now disabled to do it. But few posts will change this :)

I understand this but man is it annoying not getting your PM's maybe you could change it to not sending PM's but you are still able to view the ones you recieve. As the previous argument was man I hate people spaming me, or somthing along those lines.

I understand the whole spamming problem, but I agree with ^^^ I have a few PMs I can't get to now that the policy has changed. This is pretty irritating. I love reading the messages but am still pretty shy in putting my own opinion in.

Yeah, maybe turning on just an option to view PM's for guests will solve the problem.
