would you not say that society as a view of an 'average' person in any group, which tends to be quite sterotypical, however in everygroup there will be people that will fall into that.
wether sterotypical gay guys have observed what society see's as average and have brought into that or wether society see's enough gay guys to show certain traits then forms an opinon is another matter

This was just a theory, but then again, I have no proof, I don't know the target audience the model was supposedly aimed at if there was one.
