Illegal pretty much everywhere in the world, even places like A'dam and BC. Might be legal in Cambodia, sure seemed like it when I was there, also I think it's legal in Nepal.

California is probably the safest place to grow if you have a medical reccomendation because its perfectly legal under state law. The feds can still bust you but they are only going after big distributors.
I think in the netherlands its still illegal to grow but they dont care, and in vancouver if you get caught its not a big deal. Ive also heard that they look the other way in spain and brazil.

Here in Aus it is de-criminilized so you can get caught with like 2 plants and only get a fine of like $100.

HOT NEWS! I've just created a new domain for a new, all-encompassing marijuana site... :)
More about that later!

Alaska.
Possession of less than 25 plants is protected under the Alaska Constitution’s right to privacy (See Ravin v. Alaska). Possession of 25 or more marijuana plants is “Misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree” and is punishable by a fine of up to $50,000 or five years in prison.

I had no idea it was legal in British Columbia.... looks like I got another excuse to go to Canada instead of waiting on a draft.

I am confused, pot is not legal in Canada for possession or growing. BC is just a province and drug law is federal law in Canada.
Sure in BC they may let you go with a warning, however its not legal. People are charged for possession in BC.

Can't answer that, but here's a hint on how to raise your chances of getting an answer: Start a new thread. Genius, eh?

I believe that in the Australian Capital Territory (Kinda like our District of Columbia) You can have a couple of plants and the bacon won't really care.

I want to grow just a few plants for personal use (no sales). I live in Calif, and have medical reasons to smoke but for various reasons cannot get a medical card at present. Anyway, I'm paranoid as hell, and can't grow where I'm at anyway. Even if I could, I would still be paranoid. It really doesn't make sense (especially in our present economic conditions) to lock people up for growing a little grass for their own use, to share with friends. WTF?

Well THe emeriald triangle would be the best place in you where intrested in california, Humboult, trinity and mendocino counties have the fastest changing medicinial marijuana laws. Although there is a new petition being passed around in Oregon, the Petition should be signed and ready to present by 2010. I'll find the link. That petition adds too the marijuana lenancy you dont see soo much. ALso brings to the table legilizing the cultivation of hemp for fibers to replace paper goods, clothing and much more.

besides amsterdamn, youd have the best chances of safety/low levels of punishment growing in B.C, Ontario, spain, jamaica, or possible some cali areas

Legally you can grow cannibis in Canada if you have a medical exemption. This is different than the US because it is a Federal exemption rather than the American state exemption.
In Belgium and Spain you can grow on your own personal property legally as long as it is for your own consumption ie. not for sale .

in nz you can grow 5 plants safely and if you get caught you will get away with a slap on the hand if you say it was for personal use.

Spain is the best in Europe right now.
The UK is the pits as it's been re-classified as a Class B
with bigger sentences and fines and this after the gov's
own advisors said it should be decriminalised
thought i'd see it legal before i pass on
NO chance now

In cali you won't get in trouble with having a card and growing IF.. you don't sell any, don't smoke any with anyone else, don't sell any, don't have it with you in your car, and there is one more, oh don't tell anyone you have a card cause basically they will get you caught up. Thats how it was explained to me, by the doc.

Just for the record, it is NOT legal to grow cannabis in Alaska! State law provides for one to have up to 4 oz. in your home for personal use, but growing pot is NOT legal. A quick check of local Alaska news stories will provide proof of people getting busted with only a few plants - 5 or 6.

The following US states are decriminalized For non-medical marijuana. I'm not saying they're all in large amounts... Just that it's decriminalized.
Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Wisconsin
So If you can smoke it there, you can surely grow it. Just search if you can with those 16states.
God Bless :]

in spain you have privacy rights, basically what you do in your own home is your business.
You see alot of plants just growing on balconies there and the police can do nothing about it.
Man i want to move back to spain :(
