The bumpier the road, the more you're likely to appreciate from the journey.

It's all about the journey, since the final destination is the same for anyone anyway

Life is a jouney, and "if you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there."
And you learn from all the detours and roadblocks that the universe takes you to. :)

life is an adventure!!
dare it
My dad once said "The purpose of life is to suffer"
Hehe, yeah he wasn't really a happy-go-lucky kind of guy.
I blame his Catholic upbringing, which I had to put up with as well.

he has a point life is suffering but its not our purpose i think the purpose is to end the suffering of others cos if we do that we've automaticly ended our own
just a thought

When young people ask "What did you guys accomplish anyway, The world is a bigger mess than ever, most of you sold out & are "yuppies" nowadays. What happened?
I get a little defensive- I try to remind these kids that it wasn't easy then- & it isnt easy now. Sure we all would ve loved to stay barefoot, stoned & righteous. What happened was> Life got in the way. Our priorities had to change -we were college educated (for the most part) so goods jobs in all fields came our way. Kids happened. We needed to love & support our kids.
Maybe the picture in your mind of "the hippie" has changed. We are still out there in all walks of life. Still doing our part for the movement, the war in Iraq, the environment, human rights, etc...
We need the younger generation to pick it up a bit. The dream isnt dead, it just has evolved.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
We didn't end racism but we ended legal segregation.
We ended the idea that you could send half-a-million soldiers around the
world to fight a war that people do not support.
We ended the idea that women are second-class citizens.
We made the environment an issue that couldn't be avoided. The big battles that we won cannot be reversed. We were young, self-righteous, reckless, hypocritical, brave, silly, headstrong and scared half to death.
And we were right."
Abbie Hoffman

One of my favorite ABBIE rants - I forget what book its from, but I never forgot the what was said- -So although life is a journey> make it a fun one> but also a compassionate & productive one.

Good post, junglejack! The USA took a little detour for eight years, but I really hope we're back on the right track now. I came along a little after the "real" hippies, but I share the spirit of that time.
Life is a journey of love. Love is all, love is you ...
