The silent majority stand in the shadows,
Waiting for a leader to emerge
And save them from themselves.
They look, but do not see.
They hear, but do not listen.

When a man stands up
And says what they want to hear,
They applaud his bullshit.
They never read between the lines
Or even consider the alternatives.

Media is controlled by the corrupt,
Who tell the public what they want to hear.
This silent majority cannot think for themselves,
Because it is their right not to.
Follow blindly, live for the almighty dollar.

We are only as free as we want to be,
And most people would rather be secure than free.
Free thinking, free minded, free to just be.
It is our right to question authority,
To ask the hard questions,
And expect an honest answer.

It is our right to protest what we do not agree,
It is our right to live the way we want to,
To live in peace and not attack a foreign nation.
It is our right to information and our right
To practice spirituality apart from religion.
It is our right to think for ourselves.

Where are our rights today?

I really really like your thought here. Good job. Stand up for the freedom!...but also to be secure is to be free and the way things are run we aren't secure...at least that's what I think.

Historical point of interest: Richard Nixon coined the term "silent majority" for the non-protesting and non-demonstrating majority of average American citizens, which by comparison, were politically silent. As president, he claimed to repersent this silent majority, and speak for them, being their political voice. At the time, it was a political master stroke for his cause and the Republican party. Ask president McGovern about that. I see it's effectiveness still lives on.
