Beatnik Style (Sp?)

i read my last poem to my dad and he laughingly (but apparentlly proudly) told me that i was a beatnik. i was just wondering if there are any specific syllable or stanza rules to beatnik style-really i just want a specific definition. my dad was willing to give me a history lesson, but i'd rather know what about my writing matches this style. any thoughts?

beatnik style tends to have more of a rhythem to it, thats often why a drum of some sort accompanies it, if you want to pursue this style try using a drum or something
