Once the plant has budded whats an ideal amount of time to leave the bud before its ready for smoking?

I remove all leaves while in contaners and then
hang em in a cool dark place till slightly brittle to the touch(1-5 days depending on humidity/flowersize),then into paperbags folded on top for same amount of time give or take(rotating daily),then into sealed containers opening and airing out once daily,keep a nose out for mold once in jars,smells kinda like amonia.Each step allows you to fall back one if not quite ready.1-3 months for slow cured personel bliss.
