Ok what follows is the figures you can buy, from the adult reworking of the OZ tales, I have to say I think they're pretty horrible and I don't mean horrible in a good way
S

If you don't like those, hows about a twisted Christmas?
Santa Claws, Mrs. Claws, Demented Elves, Jack Frost, Snowman, Rabid Reindeer.

fairy tales where pretty twisted to start off with, so maybe they've just come full circle, which, tales do you think have been twisted in the below figures?

Well, there's Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella, and maybe Little Miss Muffet but the rest are mysteries to me.............
And gruesome to say the least, who collects those?

Is one of them Hansel and Gretel?? Or am i thinking of something else?? And why are all the women so slutty?? Sheesh Im guessing they dont wear that ALL the time... There should be slutty guys too otherwise thats just sexist!! ;-)
Where does this OBSESSION over HORROR come from?
Why is there SO MUCH violence being portrayed in everything from TV to cinema to toys?
It's now worse than ever in my lifetime.
Is it supposed to desensitize children so they can one day grow up to be VIOLENT KILLERS also known as MERCENARIES also known as SOLDIERS?
This is the kind of thinking that was behind the Nazi's SS training. Show a young person the worst kind of violence until they become desensitized.
Then not only they won't think twice about hacking someone into itty bitty pieces, they actually LEARN TO ENJOY IT!
Sadly, there is a very SICK method behind all this madness, and the TARGETS are children and teenagers...

Dorothy's companions don't look as though they have as much self-doubt as they are supposed to have. Cowardly lion my ass. :D

absoulutely. demand equal opportunity objectification!
i've seen these figurines.
skip, i do not think that these figurines are by even the farthest stretch of the imagination designed to lure children into becoming violent killers. they are sold in comic book and video game shops, marketed to adults, and in some stores they will not be sold to youngsters. they are not mainstream, mass-marketed toys, they are adult-oriented collector items.
if there's any marketing conspiracy to fear, it is the threat of censorship, and the dumbing-down of creative media like comic books, animated cartoons, and video games, to a "kids only", whitebread american "family-friendly", corporate-controlled and approved, insipid, sugar-coated toxic candyland. underground comics and dark parody have always been with us, and you know it. these figurines are just the 3-D version, a counter-reaction to the denial of the dark violent, and ugly that is enforced by rigid censorship in mainstream media. if these figurines are unacceptable, should we pull the works of goya and others from the galleries as well for being subversive threats?
i'm shocked and dismayed, skip, weren't you the one who was complaining about the media censorship of the horrific images of war? should we deny the horrific images of our own psyches in the same way, until they errupt under the pressure of suppresion into actual violence? gods forbid images of this kind should ever be banned or go away!
declaring these figurines, as unpleasant as we may find them, to be a government conspiracy to produce shild-killers comes from the same mindset that declared the infamous disney parody poster to be a dangerous hippie plot to lure children into having sex and taking drugs.
they're not my thing, but i do undrestand the manifestation of darkness and fears, intertwined with fairy tales modern and old. its a way of processing our dakness and fear. such a process affects my artwork as well, but in a different way. i personally do not like these specific figurines, but i like that they exist, and i think the artist executed (pardon the pun) them well, even if the subject matter is not to my personal taste.
as an aside, i am not going to participate in "what's the world coming to" moaning and complaining sessions because they have been happening for generations, and seldom change anything, whether i like it or not.

the poison elves, lower left most recent sample picture before this post, remind me of rp gamers themselves. the killer 'santa' with gas mask and steel claws, personifies how i, and i would immagine much of the rest of the world, views much if not most, of america's forign policy! the pole dancer seems harmless. i've never understood the backward headed big deal people make, objecting to female sex drive and hormones. generally made by guys. and i'm a guy. and i still don't see it.
i think the only real sickness is promoting the romantacizing and rewarding of aggressiveness. most artists, those i've met, this is not their intention. most even realize creativity and intellect are the butt of it. but, yes there are some, a few, over the years for various reasons become embittered.
there is this culture that these things sort of exemplify, but like gangsta rap, they are a symtom and an expression of that symptom, rather then any sort of motivating force behind it.
true, i think subtle ly they can and do, to a degree contribute to perpetuating it, but so does, far more so, the repression of adolescent sexuality, along with a lot of other things considered right and proper and even good for people. like beliefs that promote the pretense of hierarchy being inhierently bennificent. or economic intrests being bennificial and realitively harmless or at least their harmfulness being worth and justified by their supposed rewards.
and the desensitization problem, that is a real one. a very real one. but it comes not from seeing the worst, but from being prevented from seeing anything else, precisely the way media sensorship alows violence, even the romatacising of violence, while any sort of real sexual gratification is utterly verbotten!
i also see the repression of adolescent sexuality, as contributing directly and totally gratuitously to that desensitization.
