I think you're thinking of diogenes.
lived in a barrel.
rejected all sociatal taboos (including mastaurbating in public, defecating in a theater, and pissing ((literally)) on people who piss you off).
there's a famous story of a young alexander the great meeting him once.
alexander was so enamored with his philosophy that he offered him anything in the world.
diogenes asked him to move because he was blocking his sunlight.

man, gotta love a guy like that, if only for the entertainment value, whatever else he may have said or done.
i don't know if i'd have wanted to be arround him, but dam, gotta admire anyone who doin't give a dam what happens to themselves in order to speak truth to power.
i've of course heard the name, but not these particular details, which i'm certainly happy to.
diogenes, i bloody well salute you!

my favorite diogenes quote was on mastaurbation: "If i could only rub my belly and make the hunger go away."

while that MAY be what he was talking about: how can you be certain that it was?
obviously the answer to that would be a mater of context, about which i'm completely ignorant. i suppose i out to try and look up what is believed to be known about him.
