Pot Rot...

I have a dilema that I was hoping someone could help me with. I very stupidly forgot about some pot that I had left in a ziplock bag in my duffel bag for about two weeks. The pot was a little sticky when I left it, and now it has a strange odor. The smell isn't awful, but it's almost a little chemically-smellling. I don't know...there's no mold, but I have heard some horror stories about different types of fungi attacking marijuana. Is there anything I can do to ensure that it's safe to smoke? Should I simmer it in boiling water, and then make butter with it? Freeze it? Right now I'm just letting it breathe out in the open, but I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out.

If you can't see mold and it smells chemical, that could just be ripe tricomes calling you. Best thing is to try a bit. If it doesn't have an off flavor and doesn't make you cough your brains out, then it's likely to be OK.

So long as the stuff you put in the bag wasn't wet to begin with, it shouldn't have mold in just two weeks. Airing it out should help a lot.

The chemical smell could also be from over fertilization or pesticides, but the smell should go away fast once left open to the air.

just let it dry out really good, is the smell something like cat piss? if so your going to get mold soon so smoke fast..........

as stated just let it air out a bit and try a couple hits worth, if it tastes and smokes Ok, then your golden. Obviously if it is off on taste and smoke....i would just toss it, but thats me.

Two weeks is nothing big. If you can't see mold then its not there. Just smoke some and if you don't die, smoke some more.
