How did you all find this web site then? Was it by a friend, was it by chance or was it on one of those pop-ups you actually clicked on and struck lucky?

Damn, heh, that's going back a bit :)

At college, I knew someone who was going through a "beat poet" phase. He even went so far as to buy a beret and some of those little finger cymbals. He found it, I guess he was looking for hippy stuff, and proceeded to post a single thread (asking for the chords to Kumbaya, which is strange 'cause he could hardly play guitar ). Someone else (JOsie, for all you old timers) started using the forums after seeing them from this guy. I decided not to sign up, then I bought an old record player that was amazingly quiet, so I decided to register and make a quick post in the music forum about getting it to work (it needed a pre-amp). One post led to another, and eventually I was logging into the forums every weekend (crappy dialup cost loads).

Funny thing. I sometimes think to myself what I'd change about my life, and I always say I'd have gone to technical college long before I actually did. I always think to myself, though, that I'd still do three years at Wakefield College, because otherwise I would never have found Hipforums. Take that as you will...

I'd of been about 16 when I found the forums. I was in college - with none of my friends from school. The new friends I made smoked a lot of pot, listened to death metal and didn't hold things like authority in too high a regard.

I suppose to put it in a stereotypical way I was the stoner/drop-out type student. And it was only a matter of time before I punched...scratch that...popped, www.hippy.com (http://www.hippy.com/) into my address bar!

My first username was 'OceanStar' and I used to sign off every post with...

Peace & Love,

A friend I know personally who used to use the old site under the name of "Faceless Joker" introduced me to the world of Hipforums. I've always looked around the site, but only really started to post regularly last year, whilst I was at work, due to extreme boredom.

The first time I saw the site was a few years ago when me and my friend were making a music video for The Youngbloods - Lets Get Together. We typed 'hippy' in google and there it was, I signed up, didnt post, forgot about it, and I only just found it again.

Nay brought me here last year from another forum. It took me ages to get into though becuase the boards are so big, I had no idea where to go. I soon found home in the chat room here, and stayed there for about a year, so it hasn't been till recently that people on the boards have known me. I still had troubles with posting on the boards until Nay invited me in here, and here I am.

After the first Beautiful Days festival I thought I'd have a search to see if anyone had stories or pictures and kinda stumbles into here.

Think my first post had a go at DrA for attacking a hippy for staying in a vehicle at Avebury, I was shocked to see such behaviour on a hippy site, so told him so. He's been a pain ever since.

Me and freewind were surfind the web and wondered what novel little site would come up for the name 'Hippy.com'. We stumbled apon this site, had a look around, found the chat thing And I singed up there and then. I used the chat for a bit until I found the slower but more satisfying world of the UK hipforums.

Loved it ever since. Just like I love you guys.

It was recommended by a friend of mine who searched and came across it. He let me know thinking it would be a good way for me to rant without being interrupted and good, as people would not see Buster Blood Vessel (me) while on a roll, cheeky sod. What's good about the site is there are some really sincere people posting, be it good or bad at times.

i was doing a report on hippies and decided hippy.com might have a thing or two about it. I didnt think it would be a forum but the discussions seemed cool so I joined.

I was tripping on Magic Mushrooms a couple of days ago, and searched for 'fun things to do on shrooms' and this website came up.
I decided to come back on it today and register.

Hiya, I'm Pill 'ed by the way lol.

Well it was in school and we were all doing about the 20th century. The class split into groups and we got to choose what we wanted to do it about. I chose music. Then in our groups we all chose a few decades to do and since i loved the love peace thing i said id do the hippy music. Searched hippy music and this came up. Then cosi couldnt go on there i went after school (they blocked it for innapropriate stuff) and yeah...

That was before the whole 'make love not war' thing was cool. Well hippys still arent but that love vibe is.

I typed in www.hippy.com seven years ago and I've been here ever since. After seeing it had a UK forum and seeing it was sitting there doing nothing, I asked Skip if I could mod it and try to make a community out of it and somehow it actually worked....

I was having hip replacement surgery back in 2003, I googled for 'hip forums' and ended up here.

Man it's good to be among others who understand what you're going through:)

I can't remember.. possibly (scratch that: PROBABLY) I was high and just following a trail of links from one place to another. Or maybe there was a link to a thread here on another forum, I forget.
Guess I'm lucky I didn't brain my damage with all the drugs...

I was doing a search on google for something related to philosophy or to dreams or maybe to psychology, I don't remember... and one of the entries brought me to hip forums. It seemed a nice place, so I joined, the kept returning and finally decided to stay.

I was looking for something hippy orientated. Lo and behold, this forum seems to be popular with most search engines. It was the year 2006. Pet Shop boys had their new single, I'm with Stupid. Infernal had their smash hit, Paris to Berlin and Saddam Hussein was executed on Boxing day. I must have wanted to find some escapism from the valley of the shadow of death. Much has changed since I have been here. I do miss the early days, but I suppose things appear better when you remember it.
