Fictional or real, dead or alive. Who do you admire for their accomplishments despite (or because of) drug use? (http://www.grupthink.com/topic/6094/Drug_Using_Role_Model)

I hate how the poll results are displayed here, so please cast your vote @ Grupthink using the link above.

I know I will be in the minority but I believe people probably should not be admired for their drug use. I admire alot of people but none of them because of their drug use. I don't have an issue with drug use. I think everyone should make up their own minds about that.

I don't need a role model. Especially not for using drugs. Objective info will do just fine.

myself....why have a role model. Drugs are made for the development of personal character and experience.

well i think we'd have to consider dr. henry jeckyll .he tested his drug himself. he was awarded with some great nights out on the town in london..i imagine the story like this though.dr. jeckyll takes a placebo .it turns out he doesn't need the drug to turn into the evil mr. hyde......also i remember reading an interesting essay written in the 1890's by wm. james about his experiments with nitrous oxide.

None. Drug users should be put in the same category as paedophiles for being the most fucked-up people and a burden on society.

Well, not going into pedophiles here but it's pretty stupid to look upon people who use drugs as if the only thing they are is a drug user. Role models for drug using is not too smart either, but I guess it's not to be taken that seriously (I hope) :D. I mean, I like some aspects of Leary and Thompson too, but seriously.. their druguse is just a thing they do. It's not the most interesting part of their being.
