so I just finished 'the journey of spiritual awakening' by ram dass and am asking people seriously into this stuff that have been doing it for years.....do you have a guru, if yes how did he/she come about.....
and also...he talks about experiencing beings that live on other planes of consciouness then us, has anybody experienced them??
I just realised the hypcracy in me asking this as a sorta newbie follower and believer.....hmmmm I'd be delighted to hear anybodies input on any experience really.....I just find the human brain and its unknown capabilities amaising

About find a guru...
When a seeker has reached the stage when he is ready for it, a guru will find him. And when he does, you will know it is right. Beyond right, it is perfect.
And yes, the human mind has unlimited possibilities. That is the problem, because in spiritual sadhana we are trying to tame this mind, bring it under control and silence it, or deactivate it, so that we can rise beyond its limitations to the realm of pure conciousness. It is said in the upanishads, yato vacho nivartante, aprapya manasa saha. The Truth is beyond words and cannot be known by the mind.

To try to give an answer - If you seek a guru then you should pray to God, however you conceive Him, to guide you. That is really the best thing, even if it doesn't sound like much! In the end God is the ultimate Guru - the Human Guru is His representative, one who knows the Divine.
As for the other part of your question -yes, there are other planes and dimensions of consciousness, and beings that exist at various levels. Even we ourselves live on several planes of being at once, but we don't begin to see or realze this until we have done some sadhana or activities aimed at realization. It is possible to experience these things, but it can take time - it depends very much on how ready one is to accept change. If one has aspiration and if you are sincere, then you will find the guidance you need.
I wish you well, and I am sure you will find what you are looking for.
Shanti.
