So AR, they picked arkansas, Well I lived in AR for a while and damn it's pretty but I wouldn't wanna be there for the summer, so I wanna know if eathermother or Hillbilly or Alabama Joan ect. ect is going to have an alternative gathering for those who either A. HATE the idea of going to the mid south, B. Know pot laws are absolutely terrible in arkansas considering anything over one oz is prison time. or C. just can't get that far away from there home stead because they can't find a way there, or can't afford a way there. So please tell me if there is anyone ANYWHERE doing something outside of AR, TX or OK.

yes you are if thats what u choose to do
& your welcome to invite others to do that along with you wherever you choose to do it
me my hearts at home with family
wherever we choose to call home this year
think.. other countries have held gatherings in areas torn apart by wars
& your afraid of a few measely cops?
in order to presserve our right to gather where we choose we must be willing to come to gether, to gather..wherever we choose..& not let babylon hold us apart

Pete, I'd have to agree with Dragonfly. She has a child and she can't put herself at risk of being arrested. We all know that people get arrested even if they don't have ANYTHING on them or do anything to warrant an arrest. I plan on being prepared for the biggest and most rediculous road block at the gathering site. Sometimes we have to open our eyes to reality. This is why I always wondered why one of the most conservative states was picked as a gathering site.

Political climate doesn't seem to enter into site selection, but maybe it should. It sure makes a big difference.

where do u get all this?
i said simply if you want to have an alternative gathering go ahead & gather, invite any1 you want
but my personal choice, for me..myself..is to gather wherever family chose for the national
wheres the bad attitude in that?
am i judging any1 at all for choosing to not come? no
every1 is free to do as they feel is right
but if every1 chose to stay home for fear of what the cops or fs might do to them then no gathering would ever happen
there is no war to be won
but there is peace to be lost
gathering for peace is what we must do wherever we chose to do it wether its easy or not doesnt matter as long as it gets done
it doesnt matter who doesnt go, as long as some1 goes
i fail to see how i have a bad attitude or want a war simply because im not gonna let a lil hassle stop me
& i wasnt in any way judging any1 for not going i was simply stating how i feel & why i chose to go
so please dont try putting any bad attitude on me

Political climate doesn't seem to enter into site selection, but maybe it should. It sure makes a big difference.in a way it does, after all we are a healing gathering, we go where the healings most needed
blissful peaceful places dont need light as much as dark hate filled places
spread the light in the darkest corners & soon all will be able to see
where we want to be isnt always where we need to be
do you create peace by teachinmg the peaceful to be peaceful or by teaching the soldier to stop fighting?
sometimes u gotta just go where u need to go to enlighten the ones who need it the most
& dont think that that cop hassling you isnt affected by the beauty u bring
ran into a cop in idaho who worked a gathering years ago, this cop was the nicest cop i ever met, wise & aware, freindly open minded & nothing like youd expect a cop to be, all because of interacting with family
to heal the nation we must heal each region 1 person at a time, wich means sometimes u gotta go where the must fucked up assholes who need the healling the most are

the report i received last night is all is well with the FS, the permit has been waved and they are helping put together an operations plan. word is there has been a change in the view point of rainbow at the top of the FS chain of command. there is still a bit of bickering between the scout camps over the location, but it's settling down and the location will work. we always make it work, that's what family does. i'll be there by saturday, i'll do what i can to send word on how things are progressing. cellular service is good and the granola funk crew is gonna try to get a laptop online and send out an email report as soon as they locate a site.

i think it's a good idea for family to host smaller alternative locations at least on the 4th. it's very understandable that some can't make it, that's just life. but they should be able to go home to family even if it is a small group. nothing wrong with being together in spirit when you can't be there in person. if the gathering wouldn't have been so close to south LA this year, i most likely wouldn't be making it. this year's location is a bit of a blessing for me. the south isn't a very progressive place i'll admit, but it's learning and changing at a faster pace than most realize, the whole world is. i'd like to believe we are part of that change no matter where we call home. it's taken 35+ years to not have to deal with a permit and have semi-friendly relations with the LEOs. i hope i live long enough to see the day an LEO walks into main circle spitting watermelon seeds and asks to borrow a drum so they can join in. i'd hand him mine, would you?

but directions might help the lost hippies find you
as far as alternative gatherings go im all for it, as an alternative for those who cannot make it
but urge all who can to choose the main gathering if possible because you will be missed at home

Yeah. I'm not taking Cindy to the Gathering 'cause I'm afraid of a little cop hassle. I keep the electrical outlets covered 'cause I'm afraid of a little electrocution. I don't let her play with strange dogs because I'm afraid of a little mauling. And I don't leave her unattended on the changing table 'cause I'm afraid of a little fall.
Isn't there some Ancient Native American Proverb about something a True Warrior shouldn't do till he's walked a mile in the other guy's moccasins? Tell you what--Don't tell me how to raise my kid, and I won't tell you how to live in a wheelchair.

Two things I'm always reminding myself to remember:
--Never argue with a fool. People might not be able to tell the difference.
--Having an argument online is like being in the Special Olympics. Even if you win, you're still a retard.

whats that?
i am not arguing or attacking you.. you were doing all the arguing & attacking all on your own
a fool who argues with himself is what?
every point you made would be perfectly valid, if any of the shit you accused me of saying hadnt come from your own mind
i'm not arguing because there is nothing to argue about
i never disagreed with you or your decisions
i encouraged you to start an alternate gathering
the only thing i said that ticked u off is that people shouldnt be afraid of a lil fs movie
people.. not directed at you...but every1
our strength is in our numbers
its not a war its simply being free regardles of obsticals
and since thats not directed at you you have no reason to attack me
so can we just get back to comming together wherever we choose that to be?

uhhh, excuse me Brothers....May I please interject a few words in the name of peace?
First, Turn-up, I don't think Soaring Eagle knows that Dragonfly is your lady & I don't think he was being direct to you or Dragonfly when he posted.
Second, Soaring Eagle, please understand that Turn-up has been front lines for a very long time & after last year, he especially has a right to be protective of his family.
Soo could we all just move on & get HHB's post knocked up here instead
ok?
please.

Where the Gathering will be in 2007
This year the annual North American Rainbow Gathering (hence referred to as the Gathering) will be near Fallsville, Arkansas. Directions: Go to Fallsville, Arkansas, which is at the junction of Hwy 16 and 21. Fallsville is north of Clarksville and south west of Jasper. A map of the area is here (http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=35.79220,-93.47056&z=15&t=S&marker0=35.77936%2C-93.46965%2CfALLSVILLE%5C%2C%20ARKANSAS&marker1=34.81708%2C-91.49540%2CALLSVILLE%5C%2C%20ARKANSAS). Go about 1 1/4 miles NE of Fallsville to FS 1463. Go north, and park someplace on the sides of the road. Make sure all your tires are fully off the road.
There was no clear Spring Council consensus this year, but this appears to be where folks on the land are going. There was a council on the land at the Fallsville (Buffalo River Headwaters) that consented to staying on that site. The USFS has given their approval that this site doesn't have any environmental or other issues that would prevent this site from being usable. Since there is no clear consensus, some scouts are pushing an alternate site by Shores Lake, Arkansas. Directions to that site are: I - 40 west of Clarksville, Exit 24, onto Hwy 215 to Fern... then follow road signs to Shores Lake... past the campground, then go 5 miles along Bliss Ridge.... to parking area. I believe this link (http://mapper.acme.com/?ll=35.63574,-93.93594&z=14&t=T&marker0=35.77936%2C-93.46965%2CfALLSVILLE%5C%2C%20ARKANSAS&marker1=36.59944%2C-97.05278%2CSalt%20Fork%20Arkansas%20River%20OK&marker2=35.63574%2C-93.93594%2C11.4%20km%20NxNW%20of%20Franklin%20Coun ty%20AR) points to this site. The USFS has also given their approval of this site as well.
