I'm going to start posting all updates that don't come directly from scouts on this thread. As soon as site directions are available, I will post thm on a new thread.

I know everyone's on pins and needles wondering where the
gathering is going to be. We don't know yet, but ......
Here's a quick summary of what's going on.
If you want to read the play by play, there's an email
list and usenet group that contains a lot of the discussions.
Info on getting signed up for these info sources is available

People seem to be counciling and hanging out at the Cartney Access
Spring Council location in Arkansas (directions at http://home.earthlink.net/~scrollinfo/ (http://home.earthlink.net/~scrollinfo/))
The scouting process is ongoing and working with the USFS to pick
a site that meets the needs of gatherers and resources.
To the best of my knowledge, sites being looked at are
primarily in Arkansas although a couple of people are still investigating
a site in Texas.
Apparently the offer that Mark Rey made is still in effect,
which means people will not be ticketed for violation of the
group use regulation at this time.
However, there is no "arrangement" which prevents cops from
ticketing or arresting individuals
for breaking any laws in effect (excluding the group use regs).
Rumor has it that cops are being sticklers for people keeping their
dogs on a leash at the Cartney Access site and ticketing people
for dogs off leash.
Rumor also has it that there will be a site selected by Monday or Tuesday.
I will forward all information on as soon as I get it.
DISCLAIMER: I'm trying to sift throught different people's
opinions on what the situation is from my house
in California, so my information is coming iin second or third hand.
If you want the most accurate information, you'll need to be
there on the land.
